You mean feeling pain 24/7's...Yep, drag isn't it!!
Here in Oregon we have a more open approach to pain management. Several years ago (2-3) we have a pain management commission to help us who have chronic pain. The link is below and maybe your state has one?
We are one of a few states who have legalized marijuana to be used for pain management.
Pain is one of the top conditions people go into the doctor for! Codeine does not help all that much. Been there done that with the drugs. Isn't it nice to be a legal drug user (this is sarcasm). Doctors being the drug pushers, here try this that doesn't work try this.
Then if you go to a new doctor you got to darn near have a copy of your medical records in your hands or they think you are a druggie trying to get your meds cause you need a high.....if you do not have the records with you they want you to pay for all the tests to be repeated, this is expensive!
Pain meds put me into a seizure (I have these too) not long ago so I am still not real happy with the legal drug pushers I call the doctors....
One of my conditions is RA (my system attacks itself), very painful! My fingers and toes curl in the most painful un natural ways....and the pain in my joints OMG!
So I do understand! I hope someday that these diseases that cause so much pain will soon be terminated!
BTW it would be nice to be drug free, however after almost 30 years of daily pain I am not that strong anymore...it wears you down...

Fellow Fibro sufferer here... I know what you are going through kind of. The problem I found with Fibro and narcotic pain meds is that the meds cause a rebounding and intensifying effect on my symptoms. Are you seeing a Rhumtologist or a General Practitioner? While a Rhumetologist is the specialist in Fibro cases you may consider getting a consult from an Anesthesiologist. The difference being the first specializes in the disease, where as the second specializes in pain. Since there is no cure for Fibro, you may want to focus on having the best life possible with the least invasive pain control available.
Good luck and feel free to e-mail me anytime @ janesalladay@yahoo.com

yes Oxycontin is not good from what I have heard it is very habit forming and you can't kick that habit'but if you are working with a doctor I guess that's different, I to am in pain I was in a accident 2 years ago and and jamed my spine into the arm on the seat, than I began to hurt all over my hands and fingers just all over the doctor said that the jamming into my spine had made the arthritis working which it never had hurt me before, all I do is make sure I go for a walk every day no matter what the weather is if I can't walk out side I walk on the tread mill it keeps it lose.but it still hurts to do a lot of things.but no med. for me.

I have piriformis syndrome(I tore the piriformis muscle in my left buttock). The sciatic nerve runs right beside this muscle, so it has been damaged. I have chronic sciatica from this. Literally, a pain in my butt. I've had this problem for about 5 years, and sometimes, if I'm not careful, the pain can be quite severe. I use a combination of stretching, walking, and I take 1200mg. of Neurontin daily. It's very effective, non-narcotic, and non-habit forming. I'd like, someday, not to have to take this, but so far... Your problem is a bit different but the result is the same - chronic pain resulting in sleep problems, etc. I'd ask your doctor about this alternative. Good luck!

I was told i might have fibro. I have chronic pain and it feels like i am always complaining about one muscle part or another. I find that walking helps me some(30 min daily) But i cant over do it or i will have even more pain besides. When i absolutley have to resort to meds, i just use Advil i know that it may not be good for my stomach,,,but i really try to use it only when absolutely necessary
Good luck to u.

I have that also as well as a whole heap more things...I take percocet or darvocet and go between them because the body uses the pain meds and it can get used to them where you need more and more. So when I think the percocet isn't working I know immediately to get off them and go back down to Darvocet take them a while then go back to percocet. That's so I don't keep working my way up and up...there is just so much more you can go up and addition is way to easy with these kind of drugs I don't want it to happen to me.

I also suffer from chronic pain. Try changing your diet and take Vitamin supplements like C, D, E, St. Johns Wort and Omega 3-6-9. drink water and try to get exercise. I know it's hard to get motivated because you feel blah! But you can do it. If I can you can too.
