Why would you want to set an example of lying to the school staff before your daughter? I'm sure there are more important things you should worry about than teaching her to lie! How about like a good education.......

the nose ring is proof of the religion
the nose ring is worn to better understand the temporary nature of the flesh. to explain the sacred wisdom more than that would require the listener to undergo such an ordeal.
the nose ring also serves as a reminder to honor the rules of the religion.
the religion admonishes those who follow arbitrary cultural rules, and any attempt to push the boundaries of culture is welcomed in the interest of promoting acceptance of diversity.
the other truths of the religion cannot be explained to the uninitiated. They are ineffable. Keep reminding them that they allow Christianity as a religion. Christianity is obviously false.
just stick to your story, and if all else fails, sue sue sue
We have freedom of religion. New religions are created all the time. Who are they to decide whether or not someone's beliefs are valid?

Some Muslims do. The indian culture does it. But you shouldnt make a mockery of religion or race just so your daughter can keep her piercing. They have reasons for it and you are making a mockery of religion so that your daughter can keep a silly nose ring in her nose at school, not to mention that you are teaching her to lie. This is a ridiculous question

The only thing I know that comes close to this is women in India piercing their noses. Most women there are Hindu, though I'm not sure if the piercing is religious or simply cultural/fashionable. Best to do an internet search to find out.

Thank you for treating all religion worldwide like a bagaining chip. Why don't you just be a father and not let your daughter cheapen her body until she moves out of your house. I am a 20 year old Wiccan who is repluse by tattoos and body piercings. However I am even more appauled by your attempt to slander every faith to ever touch heaven and earth.

If you disagree with the rules; work to have them changed. I agree with those who advise you to tell the truth. Otherwise, what are you teaching your child?
"I have no greater joy than this, to hear of my children walking in the truth."

What the hell do they care if she pierces her nose? It shouldn't be any of their business. Don't tell them it's because of religion. Tell them it's called FREEDOM and in the United States you're supposed to have it.

A lot of Hindi women have their noses pierced.
And if your daughter is in school, just have her take the piercing out while she's there. She's probably too young to have it anyway.

Why lie for her?
What kind of example are you being?
You are teaching that it is O.K. to lie.
When she comes home and lies to you about where she has been you will have no moral ground to demand the truth.
Good Luck with that.
Peace!
