Any words of advice for me as I plan to get my foot done after the holidays? I am in the process of designing my tat and originally wanted it on my toe (like a toe ring) but there will be way to much detail for that small of area so my foot it is.
I'm just looking for thoughts from people with a tat on their foot. Thanks.

I guess what I'm looking for:
*Do you regret it?
*Do you still wear sandals?
*Any negative remarks?
*Did you take anything before you went in?
*I realize it is going to hurt, but how did you feel about it?
*Whatever you would like to share.

This will be my 3rd tattoo. I have one on my left wrist (didn't hurt a bit) and an anklet done. That hurt a little when it was going on the bone. Nothing too bad though.

I don't regret getting my tattoo on my foot.
I do wear sandals. For those formal events that require no tattoo, there are still plenty of shoes that I can wear, and my tat is right on top of my foot.
If you have a tat on your ankle, you have already experienced worse pain that what I have getting mine on the top of my foot.
Be careful who you go to though. Many artists will tell you that it will fade if you wear socks alot. I have to wear socks at work, and mine has not faded one bit. Those that tell you this are trying to discourage you from getting it on your foot because they have issues (for whatever reason) for tattooing feet. If your artist tells you this, go to someone else.
I have not had any negative comments. People ask if its real, if it hurt, if it has faded. All the common questions.
When I got mine, I took nothing before I went in. Not even a tylenol. It didn't hurt...as a matter of fact it was so relaxing that I fell asleep until my artist tickled me. It was my easiest tattoo thus far! I have 5...three on my back (spine work), my foot, and my hip.
Best of luck! I hope you love yours as much as I love mine!

Hey, I have one thing to say: go for it!!!
I have one on the top of my left foot, a design I found, and instantly fell in love with...I have had i now for 1 1/2 years and still love it as much as I did before!! I think that is the most imortant thing -- I didn't even really care about whether it was going to hurt or not, just wanted that and here.
I love summers, so I can wear sandals, in winter I have to show it of with little flats, and if i want to cover it up (hardly ever happens), or have warm feet ;) , I just wear closed shoes. Everyone comments on it when they see it, never had anything negative-- and the rare ones who recognize the symbol just love it!!
It didnt hurt at all, the pain was nothing more than when I pluck my eyebrows. At the same time I dont have much filling in my design, which is very fine, and it has no big areas of black. Didn't take anything.
I did not wear shoes for 2 weeks once I got it done, just because i could -- I was on vacation--and because they told me to avoid any rubbing while it was healing. When I started wearing them, I wore open shoes, which didnt touch the tattoo. I still prefere wearing those type of shoes as 1) i want to keep the result as good as it is 2) i just want people to see it!
So, if you love it, and know what you are doing, and have chosen a good artist, you will be more than fine!! Good luck, and let us know how it went!

I just got mine on my foot about 3 months ago. I put it there after my grandmother died. I got a rose and some writing.
I took nothing before getting it done. It doesn't hurt that bad. It hurt the worst right along the top where the bone is. Other than that it was cool. It is a good idea to do it when you don't have to wear shoes the next day or so. I was able to wear my flip flops which was cool. My foot was swollen for the next two days. It did take about a week longer to heal b/c it was on my foot. They said it had to do with the blood flow and my foot not really getting a break. But it is cool now, all better and good to go. I love it.....it is by far my favorite tattoo that I have. It is awesome. And I used A&D ointment on it...that works the best for me throughout my tattoo experiences. Hope you enjoy your latest tattoo experience. Have a good one. Oh yeah I took Motrin the next day to help with the swelling. Best of luck and Happy Holidays :)
** And I always get great comments on it :)

I have tats on both feet. On my right foot I have a half moon and 3 stars ( the white is still white!!) it is placed in the middle of my foot and it hurt a Lil ... just ask them to stop if the pain is too bad.
On my left foot I have flames that start at my toes and go about half way up towards my ankle.
Hell no I don't regret it!! The bast thing is that I can cover those tats up better than any other ones. I think you will be pleased with the outcome. I am!!!

Go with along the top. Foot tattoos are hard enough to heal, and the sides usually fade and need to be touched up quite a bit from rubbing on your shoe. The top will be the same, but it's easier to find shoes that have no tops for healing times.

Foot tattoos are so cool. Is this your first tat? I heard the foot and the fingers are the worst pain places. I have tattoo's but I am scared to do it in those areas!! LOL
They look great and if you designed it even better...just be prepared whever there is bone there is just a tiny bit more PAIN!

i have a skull tattooed on top of my right foot. and it hurt a lot. how much? really really hurt, but in a couple of weeks i am getting another tattoo on my other foot, so it wasn't bad enough to make me not want one ever again. i wear sandals all the time and i don't regret getting the tattoo at all. do know that you will have to wear flip flops for two weeks after getting the tattoo. depending on how big the tattoo is, your foot will swell up and it will be somewhat painful to walk for about two days. so good luck! if you want to see my tattoo go to www.myspace.com/jctattoos

My tat is on my foot and I love it. It is a great place because if you don't want anyone to see it then it is easy to cover. Also, I have had mine for over 10 years and it does not fade because it does not get as much sun.

I want a tattoo of a llama on the bottom of my foot. I hear it hurts a whole lot to get one there but I'll have to find out if/when I get the tattoo.
