my mother use to run cold water over it and then put it in a pan of cold water in the refrigerator overnight... really no quick way to do it.

Haha! It's Turkey the country, not turkey the bird! A nice and entertaining post! Nevertheless AJK's answer looks best, but change the water every two or three hours otherwise you'll cultivate bacterias even that way!!! I don't need the points... \(^_^)/

Most replies told you that you are in the wrong category and they are right. Anyway, I thaw my Turkey in the microwave if weight permits, otherwise I leave it in the fridge to thaw slowly over 2 - 3 days.

unthaw means freeze
If would like to THAW your turkey, cold water will do it

Float it in COLD water for a few hours or till thawed. Never use hot or warm water, it will start to cook turkey and bacteria could start to grow.
