How much room is there generally under the airplane seats? I'm traveling on an AA MD80 & want to make sure my stuff (pet carrier) will fit under the seat.

AA's MD80s have about 12-14 inches.

Yes..please make sure it fits under the seat because flight attendants will call you on it if it does not fit. Soft sided carriers are probably best. I would also try and get a window seat...therefore if it does not quite fully fit and sticks out a little you will not be blocking other passengers from getting out into the aisle.

Have you told the airline that you are bringing your pet with you? If the airline reservationist does not have it in the system, you will be denied boarding.

Secondly, if the airline reservationist has cleared your pet to be on the plane, be sure to give the pet some veterinarian approved tranqualizer to calm it down.

Be sure that the airline knows you are bringing your pet BEFORE you show up at the airport - OR YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO GET ON THE PLANE.
