Depends what kinda 'lonely' your cat is...
I'm guessing they haven't upgraded TMX dolls to the extent that they would provide a suitable, erm, reproductive partner for little miss kitty. :-P

Cats need attention and interaction. He needs a playmate, not a toy. I'm sure you can find a free kitten/cat in the paper and the online classifieds like craigslist.org. It doesn't cost much more to feed another cat either. I got a pal for my cat because he seemed really lonely. Now he's much more affectionate and playful. He loves his new pal and they play, sleep together, and groom each other all the time. It also takes the stress off of you to try to entertain your cat all the time.

Welllll....if you were lonely, would a mannequin suffice?
Maybe you could start a local support group - after all, if people run pet semetaries, why not pet nurseries? Get a bunch of local pets together for a couple of hours each day while their owners have coffee and a chat. Pets get real interactions, owners get the chance to meet others in the same situation, you get tiny oodles of cash for the service you provide and everyone's a winner :oD

Why don't you try spending more time with your cat. You could also give your cat interactive toys so that maybe it will occupy enough thought in your cats head that it won't think of being lonely. Try "Play'N'Treat" balls or a Kitty Kong.
Play'N'Treat Ball is my favourite because the cat HAS to play with it if you fill it up with food. If that's the only food around, they bat it around and kibble will fall out. It's good excercise for your cat AND it stimulates the mind. If your cat has to figure out how to get the food out, then he won't think about how he wants a playmate!
Good luck. =)

No since the machine has no smell and no reactions.
If you can't spend more time with your cat, then buy him more toys - and especially invest in a cat climber - you know, one of those carpeted towers with hidey holes in it. They are pricey, but worth every penny. Also, when you leave the house, leave the TV or radio on quietly so that he has some sounds - that will make him feel less alone.

Probably not. Your cat will know the difference.
Go to a humane society and see if you can get a cat as a companion for your other cat. If they are overloaded with cats - you may get a cheaper price!

She'll laugh at it for a while, but would still need a friend.
