Nothing you put on your hair can affect the growth, the only chance we get to support healthy and faster hair growth is by taking supplements that address the nourishment hair follicles need to do their job at their optimum level.
I have been taking hair supplements for the past 3 years and here is what I have found.
GNC makes a tablet called "Ultra Nourishair" in formulas for men and women, the pills are taken daily, 2 pills a day. They are HUGE and very hard to swallow, if you have any trouble at all with large tablets, then I wouldn't recommend these. The 2 pills also contain only 1200 micrograms total of Biotin, which is the main supplement needed for hair to grow faster and stronger. You should try to get a minimum of 2500 micrograms of Biotin daily to improve hair's rate of growth and its condition. Even though I took these GNC pills for 4 months, I wouldn't recommend them because they are not the most high quality pills available.
ProCaps labs makes a great supplement called "Hair Skin and Nails" formula, here is the link for that
http://www.procapslabs.com/pcl/pages/pro...
This is in capsule form and much easier to swallow. This company, ProCaps labs is also extremely reputable and carries pure and effective products.
I took GNC's Nourishair for four months, and supplemented it with extra Biotin tablets daily due to its low Biotin content. I took 2500 micrograms extra Biotin with the GNC pills.
The Procaps hair vites have 2500 micrograms of Biotin in them, and don't really require extra Biotin be taken, but I do take an additional 2500 micrograms of Biotin for a daily total of 5000 micrograms of Biotin.
My hair is growing in thick and dark and quite quickly. My hair used to be very slow growing, but all of these supplements have really made a difference.
The only way to really change the health of your hair is by taking supplements that work internally on the follicle where hair is made, any shampoos or oils or other topically applied things do nothing to change hair's structure, that can only happen with systemically provided support, which means supplements that you take internally.. Keep in mind, regardless of how many or how much you take of any supplement, hair is never going to grow at a "Jack and the beanstalk" type of rate, the most you can hope for is to improve the strength and health of each hair follicle and to see an incremental increase in the rate of its growth

It's not the creams or oils that make your hair grow as much as great treatment. As african americans, we are usually told not to wash our hair so frequently. But I think shampooing and conditioning 2-3 times a week is a great start. Its not that our hair doesn't grow, its that it breaks at the end making it seem as if it hasn't grown. Use any hair product the repairs damaged ends that you can afford to use continuously without switching. Wrapping your hair before bed is crucial to protect your hair from matting and split-ends. After following these simple tips, my hair is mid-back and I usually trim an inch off after relaxing it every 6-8 weeks. It took some time, as there is not such thing as a miracle in a bottle. I have heard a lot of good things about wildgrowth oil. Here's an excellent website, too.

Your hair probably is growing faster, but only because it is still coming in completely. Shaving cream will give a closer shave and help prevent razor burn, but you have to keep it moist. It usually benefits from a little added water to replace what your face absorbs. It does not make the blade sharper. For the hairs right under the nose, the easiest way is to use tweezers on them once or twice a week. It hurts, but not as much as cutting yourself.

Hair loss is caused mainly due to the lack of Vitamin B supplements. Vitamin B5 contains pantothenic acid and B3 (niacin that is vital for hair growth). B6 is equally important to the body, as it contains the nutrients of zinc, sulfur, magnesium and biotin.
An interesting fact about Vitamin B: Certain experiments were conducted with rats and they were fed with food that lacked magnesium supplements. It was found that they lost their hair in bunches and when they were provided with a low biotin diet they turned hairless. But to the surprise of all, their hair returned when they were fed with food rich in Vitamin B. Similar studies were conducted on men and it was found that Vitamin B enriches the quality of hair. The body also requires Vitamin A. Fatty acids such as primrose oil, flaxseed oil or salmon oil need to be consumed for enhancing hair growth.
Vitamin E is meant for stimulating the oxygen intake in the body and improves the blood circulation. If there is proper blood circulation, hair growth is enhanced. Vitamin C assists the normal functioning of capillaries that carries the blood to the scalp. Even zinc is an important supplement, which should be consumed as it assists hair growth.
Biotin is necessary for hair growth. There are many sources of biotin such as brewer's yeast, brown rice, bulgur, green peas, lentils, oats, soybeans, sunflower seeds, and walnuts. It is present in some shampoos, so you can use shampoos, which contain biotin. It is advised to consult a physician before taking any vitamins or medications for hair growth
Try this:
1.Massage the scalp for 10 to 15 minutes after bathing with water. This stimulates the blood circulation and strengthens the hair follicles in the scalp.
2.Massage the scalp and hair with coconut milk or Aloe Vera gel. Leave it for ½ hour, then rinse with warm water. Repeat 3 times a week
3.Massage into the scalp and hair honey with egg yolk. Leave for a 1/2 hour, then rinse.
4.Massage almond oil on scalp 2-3 times a day, daily. This will stop further hair loss.
5.Rinse hair with a mix of apple cider vinegar and sage tea to help hair grow.
Take care
