Only pharisees claim heresies, and blasphemy is a victimless crime.

If a "god" can't survive criticism from even one person, then it's not worth believing in.

Everyone has the right to believe what they want. If you can find some wisdom of a spitual nature in a fictional text, more power to you. Most of the major religions of the world state that the work of the divine source is not a thing for the common man/woman to fool around with. I hear many people within various religious groups say that they are "doing God's work". Listen, if God is all powerful, then He doesn't need you to do his work for him. Religoin is about bettering yourself. I only share knowledge if the listener is actively seeking it. I think we should all just step back, look at ourselves, and let everyone else do what they feel is right. I think we would be doing the right thing in letting these acusations fall on deaf ears.

I appreciate you wanting to have an open discussion. The bible as a book of fiction...how do you come to this conclusion? Don't we believe things that are found in books. Gravity, Plumbing Repair, CPR all can be read in a book-and we believe them because we find by personal use, observation, and experiance that these are true. The bible is the same. The reason people accuse people of balasphemy is because those who have not read the entire bible-but only portions- feel that they know everything. So those people have not used the bible for personal use. Secondly, they observe hypocritical Christian, and yes there are many out there, and say that their lives are not matching what is in the Bible so it must be fake. Lastly, they may have experienced church as a child and never "felt" God so they feel there is no God so the Bible must be wrong. Those of us who have read the Bible in its entirity, have observed the love of God being shown through others actions, and have experienced God's power in our lives because we came without reservations, which is not to say we came "brainless" but that we came open to hearing truth, we have seen the Bible to be real as God's words. So when people misquote or mock it-it's an insult not just to us but to God and thats not something we can take lightly as His followers. Make sense?

Wow, you have Alot of anger and resentment toward people of religions,
Read the Book "Working with Anger" by Thubten Chodron. It gives no advice from a holy books viewpoint. It is down to earth, easy reading. There is an alternative to anger. It is discussed in this book. The book also helps people deal successfully with stress.

Good Question, THANK YOU.

isn't that what blasphemy means???

anyway, isn't it interesting that some people say that "some" ancient manuscripts are books of fiction but at the same time say that "other" ancient writings are true.... aren't they aware that almost everything they believe as gospel truth about history are from ancients manuscripts or eye-witness accounts of what have happened at a particular time (in the past) ????

isn't that interesting...

No educated atheist would be ignorant as to call the Bible a book of fiction. That is just mindless ranting. You will never be able to explain how the worlds best scholars can study this book and still learn things after 2000 years, so please knock it off.

And I were to take your most personal, precious possessions, and step on it, and spit on it, you would be right to call it blasphemy.

But then you might not, because after all, you would be imposing your beliefs on me, and you wouldnt dare do that.

Since you feel that God's word is fiction, why would being accessed of Blasphemy bother you? Jim

Blasphemy is any words spoken against the truth and holiness of God. You can be as bitter and angry as you want to be, you can speak all the blasphemy you want to for now, you can degrade Gods word in the Holy Bible if you choose. It will not change the truth or the outcome. The truth is never determined by how many people believe it to be so.

I cannot call to mind a single instance where I have ever been irreverent, except toward the things which were sacred to other people.

There are over 43,000 documents found in many different languages describing the gospel of Christ that scientists can trace back to the period of Christ.

Prove that it is fiction.
