I know this sounds stupid, but there's this stuff called Bitter Apple that you can buy at a pet store. You spray it on stuff you don't want your pets chewing on.

If it's pet safe, surely it's people safe. I doubt there's anything gross in it...

I don't have kids (yet) so I don't know how rational 2 year olds are, though I'd be tempted to try taking away his toys as punishment. *Honestly, I don't know what to tell you*

I wish you luck.

my daughter would do the same thing when she was first 2 years old. she's almost 3 now. But we express what can happen if she puts things like that in her mouth. We are very graffic. We tell her she will choke and die, or get really sick and throw up and die. Some people may not like this but it works and well it's the truth isn't it. Then we tell her to throw it away or put it back. When it came to money we showed her how to use money. We would take her to the store and let her spend it, so she knows the purpose of everything and she knows the consequence of everything.

As a mother of three children I know exactly what you are talking about. The only thing that I can say is 2 year olds explore everything, and everything goes in the mouth. Just like you and I get or see something knew and intresting we pick it up and look at it, this is our way of exploring. Infants and toddlers explore things with their mouths. Their mouths are the first things they use after they are born nursing, or sucking fingers. I promise He will out grow this. In the mean time just be very watchful.

Other than the genitals, the mouth is the part of the body with the most nerve endings per square inch. Babies and young children naturally put things in their mouths to learn about them. I think that the sooner you simply allow this to occur, the sooner he will learn and develop, and the sooner he will find other means of learning about objects.
