If it is a business, yes. If it is a business, consider having people sign "release of liability" clauses along with a contract for services. Also, carry enough insurance so that if a loss occurs that is directly attributable to you negligence, you are not stuck.
Imagine millionaire soandso suing your for the loss of little boopsy.

Only if you are being paid for it. It is a business if you receive money. You may also want to look in to insurance. I have a friend that owns a dog walking business in New York City. She was sued once because a dog got aggressive and bit a passerby. People will walk right up to strange dogs and then wonder why they got bit. Beats me??????

Check with your City Hall. I believe there are, and it regulates just How Many Dogs you can Walk at once, and all the goods on "Popper scooping" - being Bonded, stuff like that. In most cases the Licence is about 10 - 30 dollars.

You'd have to check your local county and state regulations to be sure.
Whether you're licensed or not, you definitely need to have some kind of liability insurance, though. If one of the dogs gets injured or runs away, you may be in for a law suit.
You also need to protect yourself -- with a contract of some kind -- that specifies who pays for your medical bills if you get bitten or injured by one of the dogs.

They don't need a license, but many professional dog walkers are insured and bonded.

Check your local laws. I do suggest that you get bonded if you want to be a dog walker. And get insurance. People will be trusting you to come into their homes when they aren't home.

Probably not, but getting insurance would be a good thing to do. I would make sure that your clients dogs are microchipped, and wearing tags. Good medicine for prevention if a dog gets away from you.

In my city and county, no permit of any kind is needed, and the insurance is covered by my homeowners.
