Dogs usually have to potty about 10-15 minutes after they eat, when they first wake up in the morning, and when they wake up from a nap. Use these opportune times to take the pooch outside. As soon as she goes potty, praise her a lot for being a good dog.

Dogs will also walk in tight circles with their nose to the ground when they have to go to potty. Whenever you see this behavior ask the dog, "potty outside?" and take her out immediately. Again, as soon as she goes potty, praise her a lot for being a good dog.

Dog that are house-trained may also sit by the door waiting to be let out, or may whine when they need to get outside.

Watch her and figure out her patterns. Dogs will do any of the following: appear anxious, try to wander away, sniff the floor intently, sniff their rear ends, whine, stare at you, sit at the door, bark.

My dog usually will stop whatever she is doing and wander around. As she gets older she will go near the door as she learns that is where she goes out. make sure you let her know it's bad when she does go inside.
