Hmm, yeah, that's a very interesting point! Why not just trust "god" to protect him? Now, would that be a sin? Because if it was gods will for him to die, than he's preventing that from happening, right? but if god was "almighty" then he could give him a heart attack or something...but then if he's that powerful, why the need for bulletproof...round and round we go....I need chocolate! :) smart question btw!

I am sure the Pope works out his salvation daily with fear and trembling just like St. Paul did. Nobody is sure of their salvation.

Why would the Pope "test" the Lord? We are the Lord's to test, not the other way around.

Jesus went willingly to the cross because He knew it was part of God's plan of salvation. Jesus was following God the Father's will, "Not my will but Thy will be done."

Jesus wanted to help everyone He met. I don't understand your questions about Pilate.

Yes, the Pope and most Catholics are sure of their salvation.

With love in Christ.

doesnt the bible say that those persecuted for their beliefs will be high up in heaven? your right, why then is the pope afraid to be a martyr. doesnt that kind of go against all the other true followers of jesus? how many of them died for their beliefs? *shrug* pope is nothing but a political figure. he is no more "godly" then anyone else.

The purpose of the 'popemobile' is to protect the pope, not to save a wilfull sinner.

I'm sure the pope doesn't welcome death, just as none of really do. That doesn't mean he is unsure of his 'salvation', it means he'd like to stay alive longer.
