Let's break this down: (1) Your goal is reasonable, (2) Your caloric intake is too low to gain weight, and (3) If you resort to eating fast food and junk food in order to gain weight you'll gain it in all the wrong places.
Take it from me -- when I was your age I was 6 feet 4 inches tall and weighed 145 pounds, and because I didn't watch what I ate and didn't exercise I'm now about 15-20 pounds heavier than I would like to be (thankfully I'm still under the Air Force maximum for my height). So do yourself a favor and DON'T do what I did. Instead, try this:
(1) Don't jog, cycle, or do any type of aerobic exercise. That'll be counterproductive. Stop-and-go sports like basketball, tennis, and racquetball can also be counterproductive. If you're going to do anything, lift weights and do total-body workouts three times a week (but lift HEAVY and do more sets with less reps -- a good rule of thumb is 5 sets of 5 repetitions using a weight that's 80% to 85% of your one-rep maximum for each exercise).
(2) Increase your caloric intake to 3,000-3,500 calories a day, but also make sure you're getting the right nutritional balance and eating the right stuff. Keep the fast food and junk food to a minimum, and concentrate on eating good sources of protein (eggs, skim milk, cheese, fish, poultry, lean cuts of beef/pork), fat (eggs again, fish again, LOTS of olive oil, LOTS of nuts, avocadoes, and flax seed or flax seed oil) and carbohydrates (whole grains, fresh fruits and vegetables -- anything that ends in "berry" is best).
(3) Invest in some high-quality whey protein -- NOT the stuff from GNC or Vitamin World (which is garbage) but instead go for Optimum Nutrition or Champion Nutrition whey protein concentrate. Great source of protein, and if you take it before and/or after lifting weights it'll REALLY start packing the pounds on you. Check out this website for whey protein:

(4) If you're going to lift weights regularly, you can also add creatine to your regimen. No need to get the fancy-schmancy stuff -- plain old creatine monohydrate powder works just fine. The other supplements used by bodybuilders are under a lot of debate as to their effectiveness, but the general consensus is that whey protein and creatine actually do work.
Good luck!

I can't really wrap my brain around people wanting to gain weight buy my son is a semi pro football player and is looking to try out for a college. He just started with a trainer and has been instructed to eat 4500 calories a day and work out 6 days a week. He's not supposed to do a running routine so he'll keep the weight on. 4500 cals isn't a lot considering that "we're supposed" to eat 2k cals a day and most of America is over weight - so what does that tell you? Do a search and see what you can find on high calorie foods and eat them as your "in between" meals. Eat a good breakfast, lunch and dinner with the in betweens and you'll see progress. I would seriously stay away from fast food though, it's high in fat and salt and it's not a good combination being that you're already forcing your body to do something it hasn't normally done. Weight gain shakes will do it too. GNC sales people, even if you don't buy stuff there, are full of info. Just don't fall for the vitamins thing - in nursing school we were told most of us get all the vitamins we need from our food already - if we eat relatively well. And always remember that what you gain now you will have to deal with later - including the eating habits.

Please DO NOT...and I repeat...DO NOT try gaining weight by eating all of that junk food! Increasing starchy, sugary, and greasy foods is not a good idea. These are bad for your body. Even if you want to gain weight, your calories should come from foods that are good for you.
Healthy fats include omega 3 oils like fish oils, flax, and nuts. Good sources of protein include organic meats, fish, and organic poultry. Increase the number of meals per day to 5 or 6 small balanced meals. Protein powders and shakes can be added as meals. Some are flavored and only need added water and some others can blended with water or your choice of juices to improve the taste. It would be a plus to add a small amount of flax seed oil and some psillium powder to add some healthy fiber.
In addition, why not try supplements? A good quality multivitamin and mineral supplement is a good idea. Some people find that their muscle mass improves with extra amino acid formulas. Some people who are very ill may need liquid nutritional preparations that are available through their doctors.
Exercise is also important. Resistance training like lifting weights will tend to increase muscle mass more so than aerobic training which is better suited to losing fat. Resistance training can be done at a health club or with the proper equipment at home.
If you need to gain weight, it is possible to do so in a healthy manner with the right foods and exercise. Eating junk foods, sugary or greasy foods is not healthy. Neither are taking steroids or questionable supplements. Be sure that anything you take into your body is healthy.

My weight tends to be on the low side so when I need to put on a few pounds, I drink Ensure with a scoop of ice cream in it. One each night will for a snack puts 3 pounds a week on me. If you eat healthier though, your body will be able to process the nutrients better and you'll gain weight.

he metabolic powers specific foods have to make your body burn more body fat.” It is a way of rating foods, primarily based on “how a lot of calories your body is going to burn just breaking down the nutrients every time you consume a particular food.”
Therefore, you are not alone in this battle.
