I had a good relationship with this guy for over a year, more than 2 months ago he moved back to his hometown for a job, we still keep in touch, but I told him that I miss him, not a nagging "I miss you" but just kept it simple. Do guys like that?

Don't say it very often though. Sometimes it fills their head up with self-importance and cynicism and then they play hard to get, causing you emotional agony.
