Dr. Stephen Hawking states the Earth's resources will be gone in 1000 years. He is an athieist and bases this theory on physics, math, and evidence.

Will religions use this information to scare and manipulate people?

Overpopulation and lack of resources are the issues he includes.

Well, I'm sorry, but Dr. Hawking is a bit late if he wanted a news flash, this was written in Revelation long before his time time. Funny how atheists are the first to say that christians will try to scare and manipulate with "new" scientific theories, when its not new at all, it's just new to science since they're kinda slow on the uptake. All Dr. Hawkings has done is scientifically validate what the bible said 2,000 years ago.

No, a thousand years from now, nobody will remember Stephen Hawking. His books are already popping up for free at libraries all over the world.

Also, in a thousand years, the religions will likely be very different, if they continue to exist at all. I suppose it might be possible that some small cult which worships Hawking as a living Saint right now might make use of his "prophecy," but lets not hold our breath.

We've been hearing these things for many years, we were supposed to run out of fuel by now according to what I was taught in school in the 70's. Just relax, we will find ways to survive. We have only been living in our convenient electricity pampered lives for a very, very short time. Religions generally don't scare and manipulate people. They are generally more about freeing yourself from the world and its comforts and living for the next life. Most religions teach kindness to all mankind, rather than scaring people about how much time we have left. We will adapt, and eventually we will be no more. Earth will not last forever, nothing does. Religion teaches you to accept that and live happily for your temporary time on Earth.

Non believers always seem threatened by religion. They are the ones who manipulate truth. Just look around at this world can't you see that it can't last much longer? I'm so pleased a got saved when I did. And if I'm wrong, well I've nothing to lose but if I'm right I've got everything to gain!! Simple really.
PS Darwin was an atheist when he started out but was driven to insanity when he realised his theory was a lie and creation was the more probable answer.

it particularly is what occurs after that: devil is released and starts off a insurrection, gets overwhelmed by God and him and his followers get sent to the lake of fireside. Revelation 20:7-10 next people who weren't area of the rapture are judged on the large White Throne judgment. Revelation 20:11-15 the present day Jerusalem comes down from Heaven. people who're saved stay with God for something of eternity. Revelation 21 to end.

I do not think that religions use Dr. Stephan Hawkings information as a basis of their faith. Nor will they will take heed to any warning giving by an Atheist. Those crazy religious fanatic's think that the world is going to come to an end sooner than that, and they use the Bible to scare and manipulate people.

They will probably try. But, of course, Hawking is wrong. Ultimately, the limiting resource is energy -- energy can be used to make or re-make almost anything else -- and we have lots of it, from nuclear energy. If we build breeder reactors, the energy from uranium is effectively increased a thousandfold, and if we can solve the fusion problem (by no means a done deal, of course), we will have enough energy to survive as long as the earth lasts.

No, because the Bible says that, upon Jesus' return, there will be a world without end. True Christians wouldn't be afraid of the "end" any way, for we know we have a better life waiting. God Bless.

Nor me, or my children, or my childrens children, or my childrens childrens children are going to be here in 1000 years, so the info doesn't worry me in the slightest.

Most religions are against science, so why would they use science to scare people? Religion says that the world will end much sooner than that anyway.

Well most physicists say that the sun is half way through its 10 billion year life expectancy. Therefore the Earth shouldn't be gone until it is engulfed by the red giant sun so... 10 billion years..?
