I'm suppose to go to my boyfriend's house for thanksgiving. He wants me to cook chicken and dumplings which is pretty much the only thing I know how to cook LOL. But I'm wondering - is it okay to have another meat other than turkey at a thanksgiving dinner? I also want to make something else. I can't decide if I want to make peach cobbler, apple pie or blueberry pie (m boyfriend wants blueberry cause he says apple is boring) just give me your thoughts! Thanks!

When you say boyfriends house, do you mean he lives on his own or w/ family? If there are going to be other people there, you may want to call and ask what everyone would perfer *not everyone may eat the same thing*

If it's just the b/f, just make whatever you two like *since it'll be you eating it*

And, no, two meats are fine *we're having turkey and lamb*

Happy T-Day!!

Another meat is fine at TG. We usually do turkey and ham. Since he's requested your C&D,make them. You may consider using turkey... T&D! :-)

Make peach cobbler only if you're using frozen and not canned peaches. Otherwise, a pie w/ all 3 fruits in in (apple, peach, blueberry) would be awesome too!

I don't see why it wouldn't be perfectly fine for you to take chicken and dumplings to the thanksgiving meal, some people don't like turkey and might prefer it. And here are some recipes for each of those desserts.

Blueberry Pie
3/4 cup white sugar
3 tablespoons cornstarch
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
4 cups fresh blueberries
1 recipe pastry for a 9 inch double crust pie
1 tablespoon butter

Preheat oven to 425 degrees F (220 degrees C).
Mix sugar, cornstarch, salt, and cinnamon, and sprinkle over blueberries. Line pie dish with one pie crust. Pour berry mixture into the crust, and dot with butter. Cut remaining pastry into 1/2 - 3/4 inch wide strips, and make lattice top. Crimp and flute edges. Bake pie on lower shelf of oven for about 50 minutes, or until crust is golden brown.

Shredded Apple Pie
1 9inch Pie shell, frozen, unbaked
3 Granny Smith apples, approx.
Lemon Juice
1/4 cup margarine
1 cup sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
1 egg, beaten

Grate enough peeled apples to fill the pie crust. Sprinkle lemon
juice over the apples. Melt margarine and combine with sugar, vanilla, and egg. Mix well and pour over apples. Bake at 375 degrees F. for 40-45 minutes or until pie is set. Top with vanilla ice cream

Peach Cobbler
1 Cup self-rise flour
1 Cup granulated sugar
1 Cup milk
1 large can peaches, do not drain
1 stick margarine

Melt margarine in 9x13 dish in oven. Mix flour, sugar and milk into a batter. Pour peaches in, juice too. Pour batter over top and bake in preheated 350 degree oven until top is a golden brown. The other way she taught me was to put the batter in first on top of the margarine, then pour peaches and juice on top and bake.

do not take something for the meal simply by fact the mum has that already planned. Take something like a particular can of espresso or tea reckoning on what the mum likes to drink. positioned it in a extreme-high quality present bag and positioned a bow on the ideal of it. comprise a card asserting thank you for the invite on your loved ones dinner @thanksgiving.

I don't know if you would want to take a main dish to his parents house. That might give the impression that your trying to upstage his mother (big no no). But a dessert would be great. Or maybe a loaf of homemade bread. Pillsbury makes a great quick bread mix that if you use apple sause instead of oil, you can't tell that it's not homemade. But I would steer clear of the main dishes.

At our house..we have turkey...ham and my moms chicken and noodles (also homemade)..so I think you will do great. And another desert would also be a welcome addition, just make sure nobody else is already bringing the same.

Happy Thanksgiving !!!!

in my family we sometimes have brisket and ham also so sure more meats are ok... as for dessert.. try this one.. it's delicious and fruity!!

Berries 'N Stars
1 package (17.25 ounces) frozen puff pastry sheets, thawed
1 teaspoon sugar
2 lemons
1 can (14 ounces) sweetened condensed milk (not evaporated milk)
1 container (8 ounces) frozen whipped topping, thawed, divided
2 pints strawberries, hulled and sliced
1 pint blueberries
Preheat oven to 400°F. Roll one sheet of puff pastry into 10 x 13-inch rectangle on Rectangle Stone with Baker's Roller™. Repeat with second sheet of pastry, rolling onto lightly floured surface.
Using Pizza Cutter, cut four strips, 13 inches long and 1 inch wide, from second sheet of pastry. Reserve remaining dough for star decorations. Brush edges of pastry on baking stone with water. Lay strips of pastry over edges making an outer rim. Trim off any excess dough. Prick entire bottom of pastry with pastry tool. Bake 15 minutes or until golden brown. (Center may puff up slightly, but will flatten out as it cools.) Cool completely.
Cut stars from remaining dough using Star Bread Tube; sprinkle with sugar. Bake on baking stone 12 minutes or until golden brown. Meanwhile, zest lemons with Lemon Zester/Scorer to measure 1 tablespoon zest. Juice lemons using Juicer to measure 1/4 cup juice. In Classic Batter Bowl, whisk together condensed milk, lemon juice and lemon zest using Stainless Steel Whisk. Gently fold in 1 1/2 cups of the whipped topping using Classic Scraper. Fill cooled pastry shell with filling.
Slice strawberries using Egg Slicer Plus®. Arrange strawberries, blueberries and pastry stars over filling. Garnish with remaining whipped topping using Easy Accent® Decorator. Cut into 16 squares and serve using Slice 'N Serve®.
Yield: 16 servings
