DAR,you seem to be the only one that grasps the point, dependancy on anything or anyone leads to no good down the line, twenty years ago we had 3 million illegals now we have 11 million,if the trend continues, twenty years from now there will be close to 50 million, mexico right now is devided into two governments,if they ever turn against the US,they will have millions of cells embeded in the US,they have already shone who they are loyal to.

I don't want to be dependant on foreign oil. However, I also don't want to be dependant on foreign food or foreign manufacturing, and our globalist elite are sure trying to push us towards that scenario fast enough....

It is not a smart move for any country to be dependant on the necessities of life from another country. What do you think "sanctions" are for? It's a means to control a government by withdrawing necessities from it's citizens. That's why people here don't want to see every square inch of land that was farmland being used as a dumping ground or more housing complexes for more people. I don't like seeing us not be able to produce things we used to. China can sanction us now and you can pretty much forget about alot of your cheap stuff. When you are dependant ,you are controllable. That's why. Share the wealth but never give it all away thinking they will always be nice and give it back when you need it. We can do without some exotic food but we can't do without food and no land to grow it on just so more people can live here.

The issue with oil dependency is a little different than being dependent on your job. By being dependent on foreign oil, the US puts its national security at risk because if the countries who supply our oil decide they do not want to ship or sell to us, we are in trouble.

Or, conversely, as happened in the 1970's, when OPEC decided to limit oil shipments, the affect on our economy was drastic. Gas prices rose astronomically, supply was limited and people could only buy on certain days. Lines for gas ran over an hour

So, if a supplier were to "shut off the pumps", and it was Winter, and people were freezing, or the economy suffered because people could not get ot work, the government would be forced to "deal" with a hostile government.

Thus, our sovereignity could be at risk.

Is this a joke?

Go take a class in economics. Then think just a bit. The entire world economy depends on petroleum. We use it for fuel in transportation and power generation. It's the raw material for making plastic, fertilizer, and explosives. Hundreds of thousands of people, maybe millions, are directly employed in the drilling, extracting, refining, transportation, and selling of oil products.

How would you get to work without gas? You couldn't drive your car, you couldn't take the train or bus. Are you close enough to ride a bike to work? Are you willing to do that 2 months from now?

Without modern fertilizers, crop production would plummet. But that wouldn't matter, because what was left would rot in the field because the farmers couldn't harvest it.

Because foreign oil is something that could be cut off at the whim of OPEC and would have a devatating effect on our economy and society. I guess you're too young to remember the 1970's oil embargos and waiting in line for gas. Well, I was only a kid then, but it was tough, and would be even more devastating today, since no one else has the spare capacity to provide us a back-up plan.

Who cares if we don't get our lawn cut or our hair done? But if we don't have power, we don't have an economy.

Easy, because it makes us look stupid. The technology exists to remove our automobile and home heating industries OFF of oil, today.

Unfortunately, corporations, special interests, and general greed keep us in bed with the Saudis and other Middle Eastern nations, who bankrolled 9/11 and finance terrorism to this very day. Yet the media will take a picture of Bush holding some Saudi's hand, catering to the uber-elite instead of securing the United States.

All of us are victims of the strategy of confusion. Be it politics, law enforcement, flag burning, racsim, sexism, homophobia, immigration, environment, wars, drugs, etc..the Distractions keep piling up simply because with this invention (the computer) we can keep track of and share information regarding the government easier and quicker than ever. Hence, projects Echelon, Mockingbird, and many other illicit, immoral and illegal actions of the USG against its own people.

Be it democrap or repukelican, IT IS PART OF THE PROBLEM. Finally, yes, your Tel-I-Vision is brainwashing you, and your emails, cell phone and electronic devices are tapped. Welcome to the Orwellian US of A

decrease regulations, drill in Alaska, drill in the gulf. I mean, i don't recognize what i might do if i in my view had the flexibility to, yet this is all we are in a position to do to decrease our dependance. Our greatest enterprise of oil is incredibly no longer Saudi Arabia. it rather is surely Russia. i recognize it would not sound good, inspite of the undeniable fact that it is the certainty. they have plenty oil it rather is loopy. and additionally you could surely see it rather is neighbor up there, Alaska from the shore and from the oil wells in the sea. we've plenty oil up there it may desire to maintain us and the worldwide for a ridiculous volume of time. The U.S. and Canada are the worldwide's breadbasket (nicely, the U.S. is the worldwide's breadbasket) and we've somewhat some oil and organic gas. however the environmental repercussions could nicely be disastrous. incredibly whilst it consists of organic gas extraction. "Fracking" as this is termed, is terrible for the ecosystem, human beings, animals, and could doubtlessly reason earth quakes, yet this is in basic terms a conspiracy concept on the 2nd. you could desire to propose like a huge apple challenge style invoice that would purpose to create a sparkling gasoline cellular or renewable potential source. Please, purely please do no longer say extreme velocity rail. We purely can not do it at this state in time. it's going to make you sound silly.

Our dependency on foreign oil is bad because the oil is going to run out some day. Plus, some of the people it funds are bad people.

We in the USA have enough oil to go a long way. But is a fuel source that is meant to run out eventually, so I think is a great idea to use other countries first.
