This is an indicator of tape worms. Especially common if he has had a past flea infestation or is allowed to eat raw meat or fresh killed rodents. They are segments of the worm, not the whole thing. He should be treated for this. At his age, it could cause serious stress on his system.

Those are probably tapeworm segments. Cats get tapeworms from eating a flea. The whole worm lives in the intestine but small segments are shed in the stool. You can see segments in their stool, around their anus and in their bed/environment. They are sometimes shed intermittently so you don't see them every time. When they dry out they look like sesame seeds. When they are fresh they are flat, about the size of rice grains and you can see them moving. Call your veterinarian to get some tapeworm medication and flea prevention.

It's probably flea eggs. If he's leaving them and they're noticeable... he's probably seriously infested and needs flea treatment asap. Use Advantage or Revolution or something... the cheap crap at the store does NOT work.

If it IS flea eggs, it's probably got "flea dirt" mixed in with it too. Does it look like somebody put pepper and sesame seeds on the chair where kitty just was?? Flea eggs are white, but their "dirt" (really their poop) is dark. Typically you'll notice the dirt long before the eggs.

In any case, I'd say a trip to the vet is in order. It could even be some sort of mite or something. Sometimes older cats stop cleaning themselves as well as they once did and are more prone to infestations. Good luck!

these are dried segments of a tapeworm. Kitty needs to go to the vet for either pills or an injection. Very unlikely that you will catch them from the cat....very hard to transmit to humans (unlike some other worms). Treat your cat for fleas....this is how they get the worms...by ingesting a flea.

My indoor female cat had tapeworms, felt like crumbs in the bed amd everywhere. At first, I didn't know what they were until I lifted up her tail and saw something moving. My cat care book didn't tell me anything, so I went on the Internet to see what I was dealing with, and sure enough it was a tapeworm. Called the VET and picked up 1 pill which had to be crushed and mixed with wet food, and cleared it up.

they sound like tape worm. when the segments break away they can crawl out of your Cats anus, when they die and dry out they look like small grains of rice or sesame seeds.Your Cat need a treatment from the Vets to get rid of these. you should also de-flea your cat as he /she will become re-infested if he /she ingests the flea eggs.

Mouse droppings look somewhat greater like overly cooked maggots. And everybody with a cookbook could be attentive to that they(maggots) ought to be gently sauteed in olive oil, to a golden brown. not fried in butter til they're just about black.
