Someone once told me that if you submit a letter to the credit agencies disputing information and they do NOT get to it within 30 days, that whatever it was that you were disputing should automatically be removed from your credit report from that agency. This was actually told to me by a lady in the finance department of a car dealership, so I think she probably knows her stuff. She says that there is a good chance that they WONT get to your dispute letter, because they receive SO MANY. Give it a shot, otherwise, you will need to submit paperwork to disprove that is YOURS- which means doing research, finding out who may have done it,etc and if you know who did it, you need to file a police report and stuff. Good luck!

If it is true you can't until the agency takes it off. It's usually on there for 10 years then removed. Should it be incorrect you need to contact the credit bureau and they will inform you of the process. The company involved will be sent information as well to verify all is stated correctly and is true on your behave. All parties must agree this is a mistake.

You need to submit proof of payment or whatever the issue is if you can, otherwise you need to inundate them with many letters telling them to remove it for whatever reason.
