Take Metro North to New Haven, CT.

That is the last stop on the New Haven Line. Once you are there, you can probably arrange for taxi service to Madison.

Or you could take Amtrak to Old Saybrook, but that leaves from Penn Station, not Grand Central. It would leave you only about 10 miles from Madison and is a little closer than New Haven.

Grand Central Terminal is a major train hub. You can just go to the counters and ask what the closest stop on the train is. You cannot get lost. Try googling it on google.com and I'm sure you'll even be able to get schedules. Metro-North trains probably go to CT. Good luck and enjoy your stay!

Metro-North to New Haven (less than two hours). From there, the Shoreline East will take you right to Madison (half hour).
