Well, my mom is 50, and one thing she really likes is gift cards, because when people get to that age, they seem to like picking out their own stuff. Why don't you get them a gift card for about $50 to their favorite restaurant so they can have a night out? Or if they have really nice cars that they love, you could get them gift cards to get their cars detailed at a nice car wash. My mom loves to pamper her car!

Well, I think a general gift certificate would be nice, because they can get whatever they want. You can purchase them at any drugstore--they have a general one for the mall, or a particular store, or you can even purchase a gas gift certificate for dad and or as I said a general one for mom. If they both like movies, well there's Blockbuster gift certificates. You name it. I must say, I love gift certificates and I'm 59. Yes, it is the thought that counts, but some people don't put any thought into their gifts. It can be so commercial, you know? I mean scarves and ties are nice but there are other things, too. For instance, I know my daugther loves all kinds of snow globes. So you can bet that will be one of her gifts this year. Hope this helps a bit. Patricia

When I was your age, I always bought my father season lottery tickets. He didn't have to go out and buy them on his own during bad weather and always had a ticket for the weekly drawing. Another good suggestion would be to get your parents a subscription to one of their favorite magazines, like maybe T.V. Guide? Good luck and happy holidays!

Unless they are very well off, it is good to give cash or gift vouchers/certificates.

You might want to give them a good watch each.

movie tickets and a gift card to their favorite restaurant. If you have younger sibs, offer to babysit them. Let them have a nice date night.

I always buy my *good* friends a free facial or massage at a nice salon. You won't meet many people who won't like this!
