Just talk to God... It is that simple. That, in it of itself, is prayer.

It depends where I am. If I'm at church, I pray sitting, because that's how we do it. At home, I've prayed sitting, kneeling, even laying down in bed and standing in the shower. I've been in places where a group prayer is offered and the person saying the words says something to the effect that those who have trouble standing or kneeling are welcome to sit and offer their prayer.
I don't know if Mav has arthritis or not, but if she does, perhaps telling the preacher that she would kneel if she could would do a lot towards easing the preachers mind. If Mav doesn't have arthritis, then perhaps going to the preacher and in Mav's own way explain that your getting a vibe from him and you want to clear things up. Of course Mav could say it in a much nicer way than I, but you get the point I hope.

Of course we know Mav's heart is in the right place, and that's really all that matters.

I like the bow Mav :)

Mav, honey,

The Divine Presence is not so small that It is concerned about standing or sitting or kneeling or hands folded or outstretched.

Preacher sounds a little limited, though. It sounds to me like Preacher is trying to make the Divne Presence as small-minded as Preacher is.

I don't believe that there is anything to pray about. You must respect the authority that you are sitting under in the church whether they preach once a year or once a month. I know that you say that you are not being disrespectful, but the preacher is the spiritual authority of your church and if he asks you to stand while praying you should stand (unless you have a physical impairment that keeps your from it). Gods order says to respect authority. Even though this is something small and you don't see as being disrespectful; it is.
Rebellion issues begin small and it seems like you are kind of condoning it by saying that he only preaches once a month. Don't reason it out in your mind that this is right because it isn't. Stay humble and don't allow little foxes to spoil the vine. when you walk outside of authority; it is a dangerous place.
God bless you sister.

I don't think it matters as long as you are committed to your prayer life. I think it is a sign of respect to kneel and it is the most humble way to pray. Don't worry what your preacher thinks of you - it is between you and God.

I only pray outdoors. I go to the park and sit on the ground by the bayou, or I lie on my back in an open area of grass and clover. Sometimes I bring a bottle of bubble soap and blow bubbles one at a time; each bubble is a thought sent out into the universe. Contemplative and meditative.

It does not matter if you kneel, sit or stand, lie in bed or on a park bench, You pray your own way, just pray from your heart and pray what the Spirit helps you with at that time and go from there.

Yes, I agree Mav. I like to see them squirm though when they have readings about the guy that STANDS in the temple praying while the other guy kneels and it is the guy kneeling that is found to be righteous. I don't know though, it is kind of confusing because obedience is to be extolled too. I guess if one was going to error it would be for love of Jesus, (at the name of Jesus, every knee will bend) I think even though our Protestant brothers and sisters do not celebrate quite like he wants them to at least they do love Jesus and that is evident I guess in their efforts to remain true to Scripture even though they don't quite understand it.

Mav has good heart. If Mav's god exists, Mav serves best by following Mav's heart. If Mav's heart says kneel, Mav's god is pleased by Mav kneeling. If Mav's heart says stand, Mav's god is pleased by Mav standing.

Mav is wise to want to be good and strong. Mav must trust Mav's god to know Mav's heart.
