I love cooking too, and my favorite chef is Giada De Laurentiis. She mostly cooks Italian, but I like her for the simple fact that she puts together healthy meals, and I draw a lot of inspiration from that.
I end up watching Rachel Ray a lot too(simply because she's on air so often), and while her chatter is interesting, my heart takes a leap at her liberal use of oil and butter.

Love Rachel Ray for her simplicity (she's like a cartoon too, fun to watch);
Giada de Laurentis for her twist on italian (makes it simple to understand and execute);
Paula for her rich southern deliciousness and her fearlessness of the cholesterol nazis;
Sandra Lee is fab for mixing it up, I started using pre-pared pastry items because she made baking simple (but especially for her cocktails);
Tyler's Ultimate, gotta love those oldies, makes me want to cook what he's cooking every Sunday;
Ina is soothing to watch, makes me aspire to more difficult recipes;
Emeril's creole-nothing like it that spicy cassolet;
My fav is Alton. He explains the whys and how comes of the ingredients and what they do. He allows us to have the information which tells us why a recipe is constructed a certain way. I am able to take this information and apply it to all my kitchen skills.
Alton gets five stars: one for presentation, one for information on skills and application, one for appealing recipes, one for scientific explaination and one just because he's so darn entertaining!
Gotta say, I planned my Holiday menus around these people's recipes last year and all were a hit. Same plan this year, can't wait to get into that kitchen tomorrow!

I like Giada for obvious reasons, but she makes very good Italian dishes. Plus, I'm partial to Italian food. Also, Tyler Florence makes very good dishes as well. Rachel Ray is very creative, but some of the things she makes just don't appeal to me.
