I am living in an aparment. I could just give the kitties away if she gets pregnant but I would still like to know when they should be neutered.

It's a kind and loving thing to do to have your companion spayed or neutered. By asking your question, I can tell you are a loving cat owner.

Kittens can be spayed or neutered when they reach 2 lbs or 10 weeks whichever comes first. Female kitties are spayed (involves cutting the abdomen and removing the female reproductive organs) and the male kitties are neutered (non-invasive surgery where the testicle sack is sliced and the testicles are removed. No stitches required.) The kitten is given a "kitty cocktail" so they sleep through the procedure. The males recover much quicker than the females, because the neutering is a non-invasive procedure.

During kitten season so many babies are destroyed because of over population. Be kind to your girl and have her spayed. Talk with your vet about what age he suggests the procedure be done.

Most vets suggest at about 6 months. But some will neuter as young as 4 months.

You might want to do that for your kitty: You have no way to guarantee that those kittens will stay in good homes, and growing those kittens does place a demand on the momma cat's body that does start showing eventually.

ASAP. No don't let her get pregnant, there are too many animals out there now that need good homes. Call a vet and make an appointment. If $$$ are an issue contact your local shelter and ask them to refer you to a low cost, or free clinic you can go to. Here in Fl. you can apply for the spaying and neutering assistance. You go on a sliding scale. Is there an ARC (animal rescue coalition) in your town or nearby, call them, they will help you with low cost to no cost. We also have our county animal services program, where a person who wants their pets done, fill out a form and they give you a certificate to have the surgery done. Keep in mind, if she is an outdoor cat, then she should be up to date on her shots, it is very easy for any pet to get into harmful or even deadly situations, such as fights with other animals or racoons, the latter is usually 95% rabid, and people use poison pesticides. Do you and kitty right, spay or neuter as soon as you can.

Cats are usually neutered(males)/spayed(females) at 6 months of age.

There is no guarantee that if she got pregnant, you'd be able to find homes for the kittens, hence the reason for the animal shelter overpopulation.

please be responsible and get her spayed.

Female cats are spayed. Male cats are neutered. Vets usually spay females around 5 months of age, though shelters will often spay them younger than that.
