It usually means when an animal has a dry nose there sick. If it stays dry for a couple of days You may have to take him to youre vet to see what is wrong with him or take him to your nearest petsmart. they have a vet in there store at all times. I hoped i helped :-)

He could be feeling a little under the weather. It could also be the climate you live in. If your dog licks his nose constantly that could contribute to the dryness as well. In the short term, a lite coat of non-toxic moisturizers can be added until the nose heals. Since this is an area he can lick, you don't want anything toxic on the nose. A vet could advise an ointment that may be suitable for any wounds.

If it doesn't heal in a few days, a trip to the vet is probably in order.

Does it look like dry skin that is peeling off.

Because about three weeks ago on top of my dogs nose was very dry and cracking. Over a few days all of the skin fell off and looked a little pink underneith. It healed up in like a week and he is ok now. I think it was just dry old skin that needed to shed, kind of like our own skin.
