I have a 16 year old son and I think all kids have what is called SELECTIVE hearing! lol When my son pulls crap- i simply take away his video systems, tv, stereo and computer for a day then next time its 2 days and so on! He learned after losing it all 3 days straight! He is such an ANGEL now! lol Sometimes ya wish u could beat their little butts but that never works either! Take away the things they love most- cell fones-computer-tv and all the fun stuff! Believe me they will catch on fast!

It depends on what you are saying to them. Pithy slogans and "absolutes"-- such as "just say no" and "because I said so" make it difficult to make an authentic connection.

In my experience, a good start is to speak to them with the same respect you would like for them to show to you. It also helps to avoid extremes and to address difficult issues calmly and honestly.

depends on how old they are

always give them 2 options in whatever they do. if they dont listen send them to their room. you might have to give spankings, that always works!
