actually some can become obese by their thyroid being out of whack and others that are on prescription meds can become obese quickly. It all what you put in your body and how your body stores it.

I have been super obese and thankfully are no longer. I hated my life! I got that way due to a number of reasons......
overeating
eating the wrong type of foodstuffs
lack of physical activity
underactive thyroid gland
Lack of self esteem makes the obese person unhappy and food can be a comfort thing......made me feel better while I was eating it ....guilty afterwards. I doubt if anyone who is obese is truely happy with the way they look.
I needed help to lose the weight but think I still have head issues when it comes to food. I could eat loads and not feel full. I loved my food.....still do in moderation. The weightloss has changed my life!

Everyone is different to why they gain weight. With myself at first I thought it was because I was overeating. But come to find out it was not true. All through grade school to 2001 I was very active with sports. Cheer-leading, basketball, volleyball, and softball. There was nothing that I did not do, but for some reason I kept gaining weight. I ate 3 meals a day growing up and I was told that I was eating to much by teachers and well other people around me. So I went down to eating 2 meals a day to 1 meal a day. The weight was still coming on and I had my health checked. Come to find out that I starved my body and my metabolism is pretty much dead. This is how I gained my weight over the years and hope that this helps. Plus with asthma and put on steriods at times cause of it getting bad probably hurt me too. Other then that I am healthy and good luck on your search.

Yes, physically its from overeating and inactivity, more calories in than calories used.
In college, I had an obese dorm mate who ate a whole chicken for dinner or a whole pizza at one sitting. He didn't get exercise too much, except for walking to class and to the dining hall.
Why someone does that???
Maybe it's a psychological thing - food addiction, eating makes him feel good... reliving happy times in his life???
Some obese people make claims such as "big boned", "bad knees" or "thyroid" problem... but is the bad knees or thyroid problem a result of being overweight, wearing down your system or vice versa?
Also, currently, processed foods and fast foods are packed with calories... especially deep fried stuff. It's easy to get a lot of calories without even knowing it.

Some people eat too many burgers and too much chips and drink too much fizzy drinks and do not go for walks or do a little jogging. They also love their beers and eat for breakfast four fried eggs, five rashers of bacon four large pork sausages a big slice of black pudding, bake beans, a dozen mushrooms five slices of fried bread, some chips and three or four cups of tea. Then about two hours later they have a little snack of two large Italian pizza. Then one and a half hours later, they head to the local cafe for a good size lunch. And by four o'clock it is time for an afternoon tea with scones and bread and jam. Then by six its time for some real food. This time they will have four chicken pies with mash potatoes and peas plenty of gravy and chips a couple of jacket potatoes some salad, I mean you have to eat healthy, and a rhubarb and ice cream dessert washed down with a large diet cola drink. Then its off to the pub to put back about seven or eight pints of lager. Now, if they can haul their bodies back indoors to watch some TV with a couple of cans of lager and finally to bed and tomorrow, we start it all again. What a wonderful life.

yea your right, simply overeating and not doing anything physical couldnt possible lead to being obese!
oh wait, it does
if you want to become obese, stop eating anything that doesnt come in a wrapper. sit on the computer all day or watch tv all day. only get up to go to the bathroom or eat in the kitchen. besides that, sleep as much as possible and start calling people 'newbs' online, obese people like doing that

there is a gene in your brain which doesn't trigger the full feeling you get when you eat, therefore you keep eating thus becoming obese

It's a combination of over eating and under activity. That's all there is to it.
