It depends on your local ordinances. If you're just doing it until you can afford/arrange for cremation or proper burial, then I wouldn't worry too much. But since you seem to be just hanging on to the body, you should know there might be laws against it. I know a man was charged with a misdemeanor when cops found his dog's body there (search was for other reasons, IIRC)
Just make sure his body is properly wrapped (plastic would be best, even if it's a garbage bag w/ duct tape to seal it) and don't put off proper disposal any longer than necessary.

It's not illegal as such in the UK or USA but it isn't commonly done. Many cultures believe a person or animal is not at peace until they have had a burial or cremation etc. Keeping your dog in the freezer certainly does not conform to this. But it is not illegal and above all it is your choice. Taxedermy may be a viable option if you don't like the idea of burial or cremation.

Can I ask what you will do with him? Do you plan on keeping him there forever? I wouldn't think it's illegal...who checks your freezer anyway? Just don't put a human in your freezer and you should be ok.

I understand how you want to keep him around, but he really needs a final resting place. Do you think he really wants to be in a freezer for all eternity? What about getting him stuffed? I know it's hard to let go, but . . . he can't rest in peace if he's stuck in a freezer.
I am very sorry for your loss.

I agree with the first answer as well. Also,do you want you house to smell? And think about this, the longer you leave the dog in the room, and the longer it decomposes, the more prone to a bacterial infection you and your son and whoever else is in the house could get. When that dog starts to decompose, there will be a whole lot of germs floating about. And your son will have nightmare for a lifetime if you let him keep that dog in there. And as for your son hitting and biting you,you need to check that real fast! Do not allow him to hit you, because it will only get worse as he gets older.

It's not illegal, but you need to decide on something. Either believe in cremating or buryin' him, or something else.
Seriously, would you want to be stuck in a freezer when you died, instead of having a proper burial or cremation?

No, I don't believe this is illegal, the rational for your actions escapes me though. All my dogs, that have passed on, lay side by side in a corner of my back yard. I believe this to be a more acceptable way to dispose of dead pets, a way in which you can show them the dignity that they have earned for the years of companionship that they have given.

Not in my State, animals are property. You'll find something else to do with him if you power goes out and everything in your freezer thaws. Your logic confuses me, eventually (maybe after you die and have no control over it) something will have to be done with the body. Personally my dog and I are both to be cremated and our ashes spread together in the park that we walk regularly.

Maybe not illegal but watch out for those fuzzy pup cycles.
Is your Thanksgiving turkey in there too?
Yuk!
