Just curious, I'm not gonna rebuke or criticize you.

Rebuke and criticize away. I don't attend because I just don't fit into the churches I have visited. I fellowship with other Christians but I worship on my own. Most of the time my worship involves the wind the water and a solid boat. So tell me? If I fellowship with other believers, share my faith with the lost, and worship God in reading his word, prayer, music, and meditation, what am I missing? Jim

I go to church myself, but here are a few of the excuses that I get when I ask some of these people to come visit on Sunday:
1) My arthritis is kicking up, and I am too sore to move let alone go to church.
2) My family are coming to visit this weekend, so we will be tied up.
3) There are too many hypocrites there. I just choose to worship here at home.
4) We will think about it, but we are awfully busy on Sunday.
People who gave me these excuses have been spotted at Wal-Mart or the grocery store by me or some of my family either during or shortly after services, so no excuse holds water.
Jesus said, Forsake not the assembling of yourselves together as the manner of some is---. It seems that some Christians don't listen to the Word of God in living for Him. Sometimes I wonder if they are really Christians at all. I know that churches are not perfect, and that people can get their feelings hurt, and get down to just not going, but they need to realize that they are not going to please the congregation or the preacher - they are going to worship God, praising Him and giving thanks for a precious Saviour. It does no good to rebuke them, but it is tempting. In the end, God will deal with them in His perfect way.

I would ask the same question. Hebrews 10:24, 25 says "Do not forsake the gathering of ourselves together, as some have the custom, but encourage one another. And all the more so as you behold the day drawing near." As we get deeper into the time of the end true Christians need to draw closer together, not shy away from going to church.

As an older, single, never married man, I stopped going to church due to not fitting in. Churches are mostly made up of married couples, or couples with children. Sure, church members will shake my hand during "greeting" time, yet married couples, or their children are not going to befriend me. I've lost count how many times being insulted directly, or indirectly over being asked, "why not married?" (Translated: "You Don't Fit In Here.")

I was raised Catholic. I don't go to church because I believe that God is everywhere, and can see and hear me and my prayers wherever I am. In the car, in bed, at work, in the store. I don't need someone to tell me what to pray for or how to do it. God appreciates when I speak from my heart and soul, wherever and whenever I do it. He can forgive me if I ask and am truly sorry, so confession seems silly. He knows if I am pentitant, and if I am not, so no priest needs to tell me to say 20 rosaries to be penitant. God is all around me, and is all knowing and all loving. He hears we and loves me no matter what. So what is the real purpose of going to church...besides to give money? And more money, and more money? Or to trust in potential molesters? No thank you. I do my praying on my own terms.

I can't find a place that feels right for me. I went to this amazing church growing up where I felt so spiritual, but ever since some recent changes in my life, I've realized that I don't need church to connect with God. I still go sometimes because I need that reassurance and that word spoken to me, but otherwise I worhip in my own way.

It's boring and the old lady who is the Paster is too old to really understand someone as youthful as I. Also I'm shy of the paster. God knows I believe in him. Saves on gas money. All the reasson. Also hate winter cold weather. Chruch is cold. I'm not really that deep into the religion.
