I dropped out of college a while back but I want to get back into school. I did a college search http://apps.collegeboard.com/search/servlet/advsearchservlet?buttonPressed=viewResults&navigateTo=9&viewpage=1 and found out Puerto Rico had the cheapest schools in the country even for nonresidents. I'm already in debt, I wanted to study Spanish anyways, and I just need an accredited degree. Are their degrees accredited? Is Puerto Rico accepting of blacks?

I live in Puerto Rico and I attend the Inter Americana Fajardo it's a good school and it's private, they also have to UPR which are the University of Puerto Rico, they preety much credit everything you take when you go back to the states. The colleges are less expensive then what you are already used to. And to answer your question about if we are accepting of blacks, we are a mixture of three different cultures, Indians, Spaniard(white) and Black so i don't think you being black will be any problem whatsoever. So welcome to my little island and enjoy.

I went to school for a semester in Puerto Rico. Puerto Rico's schools are definitely accredited, but I don't think there are any as prestigious as the top schools in the U.S. Not all of my credits transferred over when I came back to the U.S. Colleges in Puerto Rico will not discriminate against you because of your race. You will need to learn Spanish though as that is the first language there. Full immersion is a good way to become fluent in another language. In case you are interested, I went to the InterAmerican University of Puerto Rico in San German. I had a good time there.

Of course we accept black people hehe. African culture is VERY important to us. You see everything here.

There are many public and private universities that can admit you. You should come visit them to chose which one is the best for you and the types of programs you are interested in.
