It's kind of sad that we don't have any extended family or friends to spend the holiday wilth. What should we do?

Stay home and enjoy a nice meal as a small close family. These dinners are sometimes better than the ones with the 400 extended family members that fly in from all over the world just to have your really excellent mashed potatoes! Depending on the size of your family, you may want to consider getting just parts of a turkey instead of a whole turkey (get a breast and a couple legs or something)- it will be much less to cook and much less to clean up! :) Good luck and Happy thanksgiving, just enjoy your family!

Me, my husband, and my 13month old son are spending Thanksgiving alone this year too. It is sad especially when we used to have real family get-togethers. But, we're looking on the bright side. We still have each other if no one else and we are going to keep the tradition of having a real family meal together. We may have left-overs for a long time but it doesn't matter. It is the quality time you spend with your family and thanking God for what you do have.

What really is the history of Thanksgiving? Here is a site that you may find interesting. Many of our holidays are simply man made traditions that have adapted through time. Time spent with family could be time considering the important things of God. Enjoy your God given life and make a point to appreciate the time spent with those you love. These are things that will not fade away with time but will be a solid foundation for everlasting life. The bible actually cautions against becoming involved with traditions that have pagan roots and are part of false worship. It is up to a bible trained conscience to determine what to make part of your family routine. http://www.history.com/minisites/thanksgiving/viewPage?pageId=874

Thats bad She should have had the guts and honesty to tell you, and maybe even invite you there too. We get pulled in different directions sometimes by our past and current feelings. If we stay honest about it, we don't shake things up in such bad ways and we just kinda land where we belong. Good people can usually at least tolerate each other.

We are never alone. Spread your spiritual mercy by visiting someone in hospital, retirement homes, prison or volunteer at a soup kitchen. Maybe there is an elderly person down the street you could invite if not pray for thanksgiving of what you do have not what you do not for surely there are many who are worse off.
Pray for them.

You can begin all of your own traditions.

Maybe you don't want turkey - maybe you want steak - do it!

Maybe you want to watch the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade!

Maybe you want to work at the soup kitchen.

Maybe you want to do a marathon walk - and not eat much at all.

Maybe you want to spend the whole day going from movie to movie to movie and have your Thanksgiving Dinner be Popcorn and Red Vines!

Pick whatever it is that YOUR FAMILY - big or small - wants to do - and BE GRATEFUL! That's what the day is all about!!

Enjoy one another. Don't buy into the myth that 20 people are needed for a holiday. I have 3 people that will be here. Including me.

why not go to the Marine Corps League, Salvation Army, Church or other place where there are people who may be as lonely as you are and gather together for a little while to celebrate the Thanksgiving Holiday.

We aren't even having a dinner this year. I might decide to order a pizza...who knows? Holidays are what you make of them. My idea of a perfect holiday is sleeping in until noon and staying in my pajamas all day, which is exactly what I intend to do.

Just enjoy being with each other.
