This depends on many factors, besides the mileage on the engine, including condition of your air filter, cleanliness and proper gapping of your spark plugs, and a number of other engine-related maintenance factors, but a good estimate is approximately 30-32mpg highway.

I am assuming you mean real-world mileage, not the optimistic numbers published by the government.

We have owned/driven '95, '01, '02 and '05 Neons. Only the '95 had an automatic transmission. Although we usually drive in the city, we have taken many highway trips in our Neons. My driving style can be spirited, but not abusive. We have meticulously recorded mileage figures on all these cars and they are/were well maintained. Our city mpg averages 24. The best we ever achieved was 29mpg. The performance gearing in our first three Neons is definitely more suited for the city than for the open road. Hot weather with the A/C continuously working and very cold weather do result in lower than average mpg.

I own a 2003 Neon and have only been able to get 27 miles to the gallon. That is after I installed a cold air intake.
