I honestly feel it is up to the person. Had I felt like it, I would have started after Halloween too, but it looks like this year it will be after Thanksgiving. However, last year, my yard and one of my indoor Christmas trees (I put up 3) were decorated the week before Thanksgiving! I think the fact that stores, malls, city streets etc put holiday decor up so early has played a part in the mind set of individuals decorating early these days as well.
I have a number of really nice and expensive decorations that I like to display and 3 weeks of being able to enjoy it doesn't get it for me! LOL I think most people have that attitude; especially if you believe in the superstition that they must be taken down before New Years (which I do not believe in)
Ultimately, to each his own! It's a very festive time of year, the lights, the mood, etc are exciting and brighten most people's holidays.

I start the weekend after Thanksgiving. The Christmas season goes by so fast that it's nice to enjoy the decorations for a good amount of time.

Traditionally we never put our decorations up until Christmas Eve! and they stayed up until "Little Christmas" which is January 8th. Now it's sometime between Thanksgiving and Christmas. Last year I put them up a week before Christmas. This year I will most likely put them up this weekend ( the weekend after Thanksgiving )

For me, I like to show respect for Thanksgiving, so I always wait until after that day. I can see doing the outside lights around Halloween so as to avoid the cold weather, but I would not turn them on until after Thanksgiving.

We always do it the day after Thanksgiving. The house is clean, and there's plenty of time (since it's a vacation weekend). Besides, we like to enjoy the decorations as long as possible!

Another vote for the weekend of Thanksgiving. It's a 4 day weekend, plenty of time and then it's done and out of the way. December gets too busy and it's nice not to have to try to fit it in.

U should hang your decorations up early like maybe a week after holloween so u don't have to worry about family conflict, right before christmas, but u should hold off the tree for awhile until a week before christmas so your tree istn't dead before christmas!
Cya, A.J.

I think mid November is the safest time to start puttin things up. I always start early because I get in the spirit of Christmas. I love to look at lights.
