It's making me TIRED. Should I just sleep, or fight it off? I hate to sit around and sleep all day, but that stuff makes me like pass out.

You shouldn't feel bad about sleeping all day, since you just got your wisdom teeth removed yesterday. If you're worried though, you can take regular painkillers (such as Tylenol) instead of Vicodin. After I got my wisdom teeth removed, I took Tylenol and it worked just fine. I also wasn't tired, since I used the regular kind (not PM).

I had impacted wisdom teeth (when the teeth lie down on their side so they have to break the tooth into small pieces and then remove each fragment...PAINFUL!) and I was on Vicodin for the first hour after my removal. I am allergic to it so I threw up. That night I started taking ibuprofin, like 800mg. And I took that for a few days and I was FINE. So...honestly? I'd try getting some Advil/ibuprofin and just taking that. Vicodin is a very powerful drug; it's in the same class as morphine/heroin/opium - they're all depressants. If you're feeling tired, just stop taking it. It's not for everyone.

Vicodin will make you tired. If you are truely concerned, contact your dentist to see if he/she would lower the dose (Vicodin comes in three (3) strenths: Vicodin, Vicodin ES, and Vicodin HP). If your dentist gives you something less effective, he/she would probably give you something like Motrin. Since you are taking it for dental work, your dentist probably had given you no more than a 10 day supply and you will not get addicted on it. Keep in mind to NOT take more than prescibed, because your body will just excrete what your body doesn't need (and is hard on your liver especially). Since you just had dental work, the best bet is to get some rest. Part of your tiredness may come from just having the dental work. Again, if your tiredness is that bothersome, talk to your dentist. There are other options out there for pain relief! I hope this helps!

If you are taking it around the clock than go ahead and sleep. But if you are not taking it at night, you will be wide awake until the crack of doom due to oversleeping. Why not try some acetaminophen and see if that helps? I had all four of mine taken out via oral surgery (they had to dig 'em out) and I just took acetaminophen....I was fine. No one says you HAVE to take Vicodin. Or try ibuprofen...it is an anti-inflammatory, so it helps, too. If they don't work, then go back to the Vicodin.

Sometimes all you really need to take is Motrin because most pain is due to inflammation/swelling. If your really concerned only take the Vicodin at night to help you sleep. If it was prescribed to you than take it but only if you need it!!! Just be aware of driving/operating equipement while taking this medication. You may think you're ok driving but you're still drugged.

It has the same effect on me, especially when I had my wisdon teeth removed. I was sick for over a week. So just take the time to rest. You'll be back to yourself in no time.

Sleep. It won't make you feel better to try and cope with the pain or fight through the tiredness. Give in, have a rest and you'll better soon!

Rest up. Give your body time to heal. You could also try using Ibuprofen - that doesn't make you sleepy.

No, that's common. You should be resting anyways after surgery. It will make you sleepy, and it's ok to sleep all day. You will heal faster if you get more rest. Listen to your body.
