There is no good day to die but we all must die one day.
I just hope my soul is ready!
Peace!

I was watching a Native American movie recently where this expression came up. After reflecting on it for a while, I decided that the concept is related to "live one day at a time" and "live in the moment." Getting your mind into this pattern of thinking, believing, and being reduces remarkably the feelings of being stressed and overwhelmed. At the same time, we can still pursue goals for the future, and be much less stressed out doing it.
I hope I am making some sense to somebody. When you accept your life one day, one hour, or one moment at a time, you are in a sense accepting whatever can happen, including your death. You are no longer worried about it. Therefore, you can proceed with your life without letting all your problems get to you, because "today is a good day to die." It has nothing to do with suicide and depression.

Actually, today would be a crappy day to die. I've got Thanksgiving to plan, a dentist's appointment, and a last minute meeting downtown to take care of before my editor goes back to Nebraska or something for the holiday.
Get back to me next week and I'll let you know.

It is a good day to die, but better...it is a good day to live. Death is a door, one always lives. HOW one lives is the real issue.

this was used as a rallying cry for the warriors to defeat their enemies. any day is as good a day to die as any if one is properly prepared to do so if one is not prepared as others have said then there is no good day to die
