It was instigated by Syria. Possibly Hezbollah carried it out. Hezbollah (Shia) has left its post in Parliament, and want to see the Lebanese government fall.

Lebanon fought a civil war for Muslim rights. It was finally a government of 50-50 Muslim and Christian. Tho, Syria never stopped sticking their nose into it. If the Lebanese government falls-Hezbollah and Syria will take over. G-d help the Lebanese people.

Hello,

Its NOT rocket science to know who will be behined this, its either a syrian islamist extremist or a pro-syrian extremist.

**Sadly, we back to square 1 with Muslims (arabs) against Christains.

**Its still all about who has power & control of territory (both physical land & political territory). Lebanon holds a high important strategic position in the middle east which is why there continues to be such horrible wars & killings over it.

There are too many people who would benefit from this. It could even be revenge for Phalangist destruction and killing in the Shattilla refugy camp. Israel or the U sA could have wanted him dead, they are not in favour of a stronger Lebanon. It might have been pro Syrian factions or it might have been anti syrian factions. It could have been almost anybody. It is almost like " Murder on the Orient Express."

edit to above. USA/Israel would love to see Lebanon collapse into civil war, it would give them the perfect excuse to move in.

I think Syria- mostly because I don't think the other factions within Lebanon would want to trigger another civil war.
