Change your toothpaste to a non fluoride one. I did and I haven't looked back since!

Forever Bright Toothgel, it costs about £5 a tube BUT is well worth it!

Hi,

Flourosis is caused when you have too much fluoride intake when the teeth are developing, usually due to eating/ swallowing lots of high fluoride dose toothpaste when you are a toddler.

This is why now we recommend lower dosage fluoride toothpastes for young children.

On the plus side it means that your teeth are actually very strong as the fluoride is integrated into the enamel itself.

The only way to reduce the appearance of fluorosis if it is really bad is to have the teeth bleached at the Dentist. This evens out the colouration so the tooth colour looks more even.Bear in mind though that initially the flourosis 'spots' also whiten and can look brighter than before although this is usually just temporary.

In the UK this can only be done privately and costs around £300 so you might have to wait until you are older unless you can convince your parents.

I can sympathise though, I too have fluorosis on my top front teeth ( I used to eat toothpaste !) but it is not too bad, I had my top teeth bleached about 10 years ago and it did make a difference.

Speak to your parents and your Dentist if this is really bothering, and hopefully they will be able to help.

Good Luck!

You can TRY bleaching to make it less obvious, but the only way to really "cure" the problem is to cover it up with some bonding or veneers.

My daughter bugged me and bugged me to do veneers on her teeth. She had some dark spots from medication as a baby (no choice in the matter...) and I agreed that she should have some treatment, but I did not want to place porcelain veneers on her at a young age. Finally, at age 16, I was willing to use bonding for her front six teeth. (Dentists - I only did 6-11, because we were not changing the shade.) My plan was to replace them with porcelain once she was in her 20's. She is now 33 years old and the bonding still looks great. (Dentists - I used Z-100 in 1989. I DID prepare a finish line.)

Yes like the above person said whitening may help! However don't get the bleaching kit from a dentist as you can get it cheaper by following the link below. I guarantee to you this bleaching stuff is the real thing and works just as effective as the stuff at the dentist as this is exactly what dentists use. I am using it at the moment!

Everyone responds differently to whitneing solutions though; some will get amazing results and others will not get a brilliant result. If whitening does not help then the only other option is to go for veneers! At your age though I wouldn't get veeners!

If you have dental flurosis your teeth will also be brittle. One cause is swallowing tooth paste. See your dentist asap.
