I hate religion, and I will never repent for something I did not do wrong. I am 43 years old.

The reason you don't see many middle aged or older people taking up religion is because they have reached an age where they have gained some wisdom. They are able to see past the smoke and fog and have formed an opinion of their own and no longer feel the need to follow what is constantly being pushed in their faces like a bunch of sheep.

The christian revival that happened in the mid 80`s was tainted by the controversy caused by Tammy Faye Baker and Jimmy Swaggert. More and more people are finding the answers through their own means. Also, the catholic church has been riddled with sexual abuse claims. Don`t be afraid to listen to your inner voice, there is answers there. I believe what ever you believe in makes you a better person, then that's what matters.

Here is the danger as a person gets older. About accepting Christ into their Heart.
Just like anything else in their life. as they get older people get set in there ways. Then it gets very hard to break their ways. When people get older they don't like changed. They have heard the Gospel all there life's. It like water ruining off a ducks back. Does not have any affect of them. Oh yes, they can get saved. Yes indeed, but sometimes it takes a tragedy in life to break them to look up. Every-time anyone hear the Gospel and turns it down. Its get harder and harder for that person to accept the truth about Jesus. The Bible tells us that God Spirit will not always strive with a person. Its comes a time when a person turns down the Gospel. God will withdraw His Spirit from a person. Now you and I don't know when that will happen with a person. That up to God to make that decision. This is why it very important that we reach young people before they older. Young hearts is easier to reach about the Gospel. Again, only God knows that time. We are to preach and to witness to everybody about the Gospel. [death, burial, Resurrection of Christ]

What do you class as middle ages? There are plenty of people reverting to Islam every day. I was 34 when i reverted to Islam 2 years ago. Does that count as "middle aged"?

What will it take? People have to humble themselves. They have to realize they are not pure, righteous people. They've got to see their errors, and then take a step to find sanctification. Only then will you have revivals.

Children take it up because they are scared into it. The elderly fear death. (there are always dim witted people that convert at 34, but I suspect she had a religion before that)
I will still say god does not exist at 90.

A LOT of people come back or come to God in their 40's and 50's.
When we realize that there is more to life than an endless party that does not bring true happiness, and when we realize that money, drugs and sex abuse cannot buy the peace that God Gives.
God Bless you!

Religion brainwashes their victims as children. That is the most effective way. It usually lasts a lifetime.
