well first off I'm surprised they are letting you gargle the day after. I got mine out 4 years ago and I wasn't aloud to brush for a week. Gargle with salt and water. that's all you got.. maybe get some mint extract and add a drop or two to some water (so it won't burn but help with the nasties) and gargle with that. Get some breath mints too. Something small like tictacs or altoids (though the altoids are very strong). Just give it time and tote around your mints untill you can open your mouth more. And do give it a week before you brush. You could rip a stich or get an infection. If you are worried about buildup try scrubbing (suingyour finger) with a paste made from baking soda and water. Use your finger.

Sorry, but saltwater will help the most as we are made of salt and water. (and a little bone)
Yes, salt water is the best. It would probable help the awful taste in your mouth too.
If it gets worse call your doctor.

Use baking soda or a mouth wash that is especially made for cleaning and sores in the mouth, not the just your usual pedestrian type brands. They can be found at your local drug store.

Force yourself to do the saltwater gargling. I know I hate it doing that, but it really does help.

ok, to the person who told you to try sucking through a straw...PLEASE DON'T!!! This will surely cause a dry socket and you will be in excruciating pain and need to go back to the surgeon ASAP for relief!! try brushing your teeth and using warm warm to rinse afterward. just don't brush on the "holes" but all your other teeth.

may take a few more days to calm your jaw but for the present time, try using a straw to suck in the water and gargle a.
Just try to keep at it.
