How old are you?

I have experienced peer Pressure my whole life.

Going along with the crowd is peer pressure.

All advertising is based on peer Pressure. Have you purchased a Coke instead of a Cola? Peer Pressure at work.

Designer Jeans instead of no-names? Peer Pressure at work.

Done anything because the group was doing it even though you KNEW it was wrong? Peer Pressure.

It is everywhere, so much that some accept it as a part of life and do not recognize it at all.

Peace!

Of course you have free choice in most matters, but I think peer pressure is very real for most people, usually teenagers. During that age fitting in is very important to them, and for many, their social life is everything--even more important than schoolwork! So they will dress and talk and act in certain ways in order to curry favor and popularity with their peers. Of course, there are exceptions to the rule: maybe you are one of those guys who just doesn't feel compelled to try and fit in. That's cool, and you are saving yourself alot of stress and worry! As we get older, too, that pressure lessens. By college it's about half of what it was in h.s. and by the time we're adults we could care less what people think of us! LOL. But rest assured: 90% of your classmates feel peer pressure during their teen years.

Peer pressure is a very real, very powerful force. Not everyone is strong enough or independent enough to resist it. Just because you don't succumb to it doesn't mean it doesn't exist. Pat yourself on the back for rising above it, but don't discount its effect. It is very real and very influential.
