Just the name. They both refer to the mixture you put in the turkey when cooking. SO, technically, if you don't stuff your turkey you could call it dressing, and stuffing if you do stuff your turkey.

I think all dressing is stuffing, but not all stuffing is dressing. Stuffing goes in the bird, and dressing is just the bread mixture itself.

Dressing is ususally made with a combination of cornbread bread. In some coastal regions of the South includes oysters. Northern stuffing is made with bread and usually not cornbread.

Absolutely nothing -- just different terms depending on the area you come from. I believe the southern states call it dressing and the northern states call it stuffing.

My grandma calls stuffing "dressing" and for the longest time I had no concept what she meant. In my family, they're the comparable element. I desire to call it stuffing, potato patato tomato tamato what ever floats your boat!
