If they were all written by man, thousands of years ago, why do we believe them? That is like us believing something Steven King wrote. Just because they are supposed to be about people who we like to believe in, there is no evidence of their existence. Seems to me like they are just basic laws that have stories behind them so more people will believe them, if not they go to hell. I could go stay in the desert on top of a rock, disoriented and say that I saw a burning bush or something of that nature, and I'd just be called crazy. So why is it when they talk about it in these writings we believe them? Serious answers please!

sleestack 10- You didn't answer my question. Who says that the things in the bible, quran or any other religious texts ever took place, and aren't just a good story written over time?

madeline- that's just it, why would i read a book that has someone else's opinion and not facts about there being a "god". When they discover a carcass of Jesus himself then maybe I'll start believing.

Jesus Freak- Yes i can say that they made the bible up, how else would they have followers? The bible may show the existence of Jesus Christ but there is no evidence of there being a god. The stories about the mystical powers that happened with the sea parting and things of that nature could be from someones vast imagination, or explained away with illusions.

People are sheep. And that *is* a serious answer. People would rather believe that there are God-given instructions for life than face the harsh reality that there arent.

Proof that the Bible is real and based on real people and events:
1.) The Ciaphas Box, a stone box ossuary containing the bones of Ciaphas, the high priest that helped send Jesus to his Death.
2.) The Pilate Stone, a stone found in Cesarea mentioning Pilate as a Roman ruler in Cesarea (where he ruled before being called to Jerusalem for the Passover, when Jesus was crucified), authenticated from the time of Christ
3.) A stone carved by a Syrian king mentioning King David.
4.) The Dead Sea Scrolls. Written before the time of Christ, matches the OT texts of today of Isaiah, Jeremiah, etc.
Most of these things are held by the Israeli Museum, google it and check it out!

That is like saying to an eywitness in a court of law "we can't accept your testimony because it happened a long time ago," these people who wrote the Bible actually lived it they were there when it happened, can you honestly say they made it up? no of course not, God is real, you want proof the Bible is true look at the facts; every culture has a flood story(granted some things vary but they all have things in common(the top is that there was a flood)), next there is evidence that the Kingdom of Israel exist, if you doubt this then you are a fool, there is multiple accounts that Jesus of Nazerath lived on this earth, there is evidence of the existence of the patriarchs of the Faith(Paul, Petter, John, etc.), men died for these beliefs(what man would die for a lie), prophieseis made in the Bible are coming true every day(of them the mark of the beast, being able to see someone around the world in a matter of seconds, and many many more) and there is more evidence of God's reality, just look around "creatation itself tells us of the existence of a creator."

Ancient writings can be verified through parallel writings and archaeological investigation. One point that I find interesting is the Biblical story of the Sun and Moon being held in place while Joshua fought a battle. It is an interesting coincidence that other cultures with no interest in this story report noticing an extra long day (Egypt and China) or an extra long night (in the Americas) at this time. Difficult to explain away as mere fiction in a world without satellite communications, or for that matter ANY worldwide comminication.

The final books of the Bible have been written 1000's of years earlier the qu'ran. It exchange into from the Bible that Mohamed have been given a number of his techniques yet regrettably he made alterations to God's inspired Scriptures which won't be in a position to be desirable, fantastically his techniques on Ishmael and Jesus. Moslems elect to declare that the Bible has been replaced yet in certainty while the oldest fragments and chapters of Genesis and Isaiah have been recent in Qumran they matched the manuscripts we've, So no alterations there. The Bible for sure states that the Lord Jesus Christ is the son of God, not basically a prophet as Islam states. additionally it exchange into for sure reported that Isaac exchange into the guy who God needed Abraham to be arranged to kill not Ishmael. The covenant can provide of God went with the aid of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob (who's Israel). Ishmael had distinctive can provide. The Bible is the situation to discover quite some those issues and that i for my area can propose it. Jesus delivered the message of the gospel of the dominion and salvation.

I am born a Muslim. My heart believed B4 my ears. Believing is like love, U don't know why U love this person. Its like a magnate that draws U in its direction. I am not going to say that the Quran has many facts which were been proved scientifically. If any say that Mohammed wrote it, he was illiterate and not a man of science. I will not go into it, since U do not care for the Quran or believe it.
U wanted a serious answer: mine is that MY HEART TELLS ME THIS IS TURE. My eyes are filled with tears when I see the Ka'ba on TV, I adore Mohammed without knowing him. Why? I listen to my heart.

Some people need religion, they can't face the facts that their life has no purpose other than to breathe, eat, and procreate, or that they are nothing more than an especially brainy species of ape.
So they believe in all kinds of ancient stories (the Koran is not even 1400 years old) in order to be able to find a sense in their lives, feel special and "chosen" by their deity.

What does the age of the document have to do with it? You believe several things you read (I assume you went to school). Even though you may initially question a concept, overwelming evidence usually brings you around to belief (i.e. gravity, earth is round, etc.)
As for the Bible specifically, secular historical accounts of the existence of Jesus, combined with biblical eyewitness accounts of His resurrection, miracles and subsequent Church activities(including extra-biblical books, such as the Appocrypha and early church fathers), makes this quite a believable document.
For reason-based determinations of the Christian position, read C.S. Lewis' "Mere Christianity" and Augustine's 5 Proofs of God
Would you only believe in the existence of Napoleon, Caesar, etc. if you saw the body? Can you read about it, or do you have to see it with your own eyes? Have you seen cells, or galaxies? No but, you can reason out their existence.

Yes, if you sat on a rock and said you talked to god you'd be considered crazy. But, if you can convince enough people that you really did talk to god, you'd be a prophet. Its all dependent on how many people you can convince. Moses was pretty convincing because he led the people out of Egypt. Mohamad was convincing because if you didn't believe him, he'd cut your head off (as his followers still do today). Jesus didn't really do anything very convincing, but his followers, like Peter and Paul, carried the word and were convincing. The early christians died in the coliseum which was convincing to people.

Because some of us are idiots!
The Bible tells us it is the inerrant word of God and so people believe it is so. But only circular reasoning supports that view. The thinking goes: it is the inerrant word of God because it says it is and if says so it must be, so that proves it. Not to me it doesn't.
The post is the inerrant word of God revealed to me.
See? Absurd, isn't it?
