I know exactly how you feel. I just had to put my dogs to sleep last Friday. It was one of the hardest things that I have ever done. She was only seven and got sick a week ago. I took her to the vet and they found that she was eaten up with cancer and that her liver and kidneys had shut down...
My first questions were why?? and how??
My second reaction was guilt... may be if I had done this or that... but the truth is that these things sadly happen on their own! I prayed for god to help her and me. I went into the vet's office with her and held her while she passed.
Be strong- and remember all the good times that you had together! The fact that Baggy loves you will not change! Dig out some old pictures and look through them. This will be bitter sweet at first but will help you focus on all the good times you shared together! :) The important thing is that the suffering and pain will be over. Hang in there and god bless you!!

Try to derive comfort from knowing that you have made the right decision - namely to end your dear cat's suffering. Kidney failure hurts. The fact that you can stop the hurting is good; don't let the moronic responses of some of the people who answered get you down. YOur Baggy will always have pride of place in your heart.

Dear Puffy,
I wrote to you yesterday and tried to give you hope. I am so sorry that your cat was so ill that the vet could not save him. I know exactly how you feel as I had to take the same decision last year just before Christmas and I mourned for weeks for my cat after "giving him permission to go". Just think that you have just given Baggy the greatest proof of your love by letting him go and sparing him more suffering.
Please do not take any notice of sarcastic people who tell you to get a life. They just do not understand that animals can fill the great emptiness left by humans and, unlike them, animals love you unconditionally.
All of us who understand feel for you. Although I do not know you, please accept a big hug from me. I will be thinking of you and sending you lots of encouraging thoughts in the next few days to help you get over this bad patch.
With love, Marie.

Here's a hug to you & to Baggy. I know it's such a difficult decision, but in your heart you know it's the right thing to do for Baggy. Let yourself grieve - ignore those who don't understand - & remember the good times that you had with Baggy. Take comfort from the understanding people posting these messages. My thoughts are with you.

Hi there...I am so terribly sorry to hear your little one will be traveling over the rainbow soon. Losing the ones we love who have been through so much with us is so hard to imagine how we can live without them. They are our whole world wrapped up in their unconditional love. My heart and prayers have been with you both and it breaks my heart to hear that it couldn't be for the better. Please accept my condolences and know you are not alone as your kitty will be always in your heart and dreams forever.
