I had a friend who did a dissertation in college about Laotian people and the fact that per capita they are the second largest group in prison, second only to Blacks (not sure what the current politically correct term is). The largest part of it was their upbringing and the environment they lived in. Each of these groups migrate to gangs and often pass up on education. Parents are typically less involved, due to a various number of reason, and often are taught they are victims of society. Living with a victim attitude prevents progression and causes a vicious cycle of maintaining the status quo.

Now, I think white people do get in trouble, but I also think that the police are typically in the tougher neighborhoods, which commonly are more minority populated. Thus, there is more of a chance a minority will be seen breaking the law, and consequently more of a chance they will get in trouble.

hehe we do quite often.
If you look at areas of the country that are mostly "white" you will see that yeah white people get in trouble alot.
I think your question should read "Why do rich people never get in trouble with the police"
I think this has to do with people who have loads of money don't put themselves in positions to get in trouble. They mostly stay home and are not out in the streets or at bars partying. They are more family focused, and don't take all that many risks in life. How often do you see someone from the Elk's club hanging out drunk on 4th st or breaking into people's cars?
I do think that there is a certain steryotype that all cops have in their minds though. I think they are so used to criminal behavior from the lower income brackets that they see anyone who looks lower income as a criminal. Unfortunatly, when we look at race there is a HUGE income difference in this country.

White people get in trouble with the police all of the time. Why's it gotta be like that?!? That's so ignorant to think that black people are the only ones harassed by the police. Get out of your bubble.

Are you joking? What a retarded thing to say (or type). My brother is white, and he got arrested and went to jail for getting caught with drugs.

Black people aren't the only people out there who get in trouble with the police. No one is safe from the goddamn police.

You can't be serious. Quit playing the victim and take some responsibility for your life. Lots of white people get into trouble with the police. In fact, my brother-in-law is in jail right now. Again.

Since when? Even if your only exposure to the police and criminal justice is watching "Cops" regularly, you'd know that's not a true statement. Race is only a coincidental factor in arrests -- people aren't arrested because they're black or white, but because they're committing crimes. If, in a given area at a given period of time, more of one group is arrested for committing crimes than another, that just means that either more of that group is committing crimes or that the type of crimes being committed by that group are more easily caught and prosecuted.

Now, there may very well be a racist cop or two around who thinks to him- or herself, "Hmmm... there goes a black/latino/asian guy, about 20 years old.. I'll bet he's about to commit a crime, if he hasn't already." However, they are not the majority, and if they operate in that way, they will be fired and brought to trial for their illegal behavior.

I would try not to focus on who is getting in trouble and pay more attention to people who are doing the right thing. We need to give a lot more props to the people who are role models in our community, to show everyone how we can live together and cast off these bonds of racial tension.

White people do get into trouble with the police. White people just keep it private and learn the first time around.

White people get in trouble WITH the police all the time. If you're complaining why there aren't as many on certain crimes, maybe it's because they don't do it as much. On the other hand....I'd sure like to see more butt whacking on alot of the "white collar crimes" that are committed. These "big business crimes" aren't punished near as hard as I think they should be.
