Back Stretch
1. Start by kneeling on the ground with your arms out in front of you.

3. Now slide your hands to the right until a stretch is felt down the side of your torso. Repeat to the left.
Low Back Stretch
1. Lie on back with right knee drawn toward chest.
2. Slowly bring bent leg across body until a stretch is felt in the lower back and hip area.
3. Remember to keep shoulders squared and flat on ground at all times. Bottom leg should be bent so that your knees are aligned.
If after all this the spasms are still there, try a massage, definitly it will help with you with the spasms. to increase circulation and decrease pain and much more

Hey,
It is a fact that no one condition reflects sciatica and it would be prudent to refer to it as a generic medical term encompassing lots of symptoms that taken together describe a lower back pain that a patient suffers from. When someone complains of severe back pain that passes down to legs through his buttocks, even down to his feet and toes, doctors suspect him to be suffering from sciatica. Often sciatica presents itself as numbness or a tingling sensation that may not be anything like the severe pain commonly associated with sciatica. This tingling or numbness may be felt by the person when he engages in some activities.
On this site you can find very good tips on how to treat your sciatica: http://curesciatica.toptips.org
Cheers ;)

Try stretching those unequal muscles in the lower back, just to get the pressure off the nerves in the area. Until they are able to carry equal amounts of work they will continue to pull the vertebrae around to involve the nerve roots. When that pressure is active you have have an inflammatory process move into the area.. swelling of the tissues will reduce your activities even more.

Do you know why you are having the spasms?
If your having spinal issues, I would say stretch, if you're having kidney stones I would say drink lots and lots of water.
I think ice and heat packs help either way.
I'll be watching for the answers, I'd like more ideas on this too :)

alternating ice and heat. Lay down and rest but not for too long or you can get stiff. Also, the icy hot patches are really good. Try to avoid the stress that brings the spasms on if possible.

my doc had me get one of those big balls the women use for workouts. i do situps while sitting on it and do one handed curls and lifts with a 10lb dumbell. it takes about 15 mins twice a day but it works. you should see some improvement in 2 to 3 weeks. it takes a little practice and it feels silly to sit there and rock around side to side and front to back but he was right, it works

For me, I found the cramps are much less when I started drinking LOTS of water and cut sugar out. I also found that when I started excercising more regularly, that helped.
