If ever your ex gets back with you, it may be because the other relationship did not work, and now he can use you as a spare time, while he's waiting for his next target. If ever your ex gets back with you, he wouldn't be motivated by love, but by the feeling of trying to fill a void in his life.
As for you, move on. I'm sure you wouldn't want to be simply a second choice, or a spare tire for that matter.
