All of my dogs, and my kitten had tapeworm. The vet said that I had to go around and clean up the animal "droppings". I did that but what is a way to make sure that there is no tapeworm in my yard? I have a very large yard, is there any way?

We had to clean up the poop so that they won't get it again. Please if your going to tell me i'm wrong or anything please don't post on this. The animals already have been taken care of.

Thanks!

If you have treated your animals and gotten rid of the fleas, then your animals should no longer be putting out the tape egg segments by next Thursday. Fleas are the carrier.
I have in the past had a dog get tape from another. While they were playing and nipping, one dog swallowed an egg segment that came out of another dog. This was done by nipping at the rear of the infected dog.
Just make sure that you have gotten rid of the fleas! Or that the dog who will be visiting has a flea topical on him.

P.S. The next time you are bothered by tape, the generic version of Droncit is now available OTC. It is called Pranziquantel and it is available at most pet stores. Funny word, but if you check Droncit's website, you will see this chemical name just under Droncit's.

I have never heard of that but the best way to clean your yard would be to dilute bleach with water and spray on your lawn 1-10 solution. the bleach may kill your lawn but so will the dog and cat droppings. Tapeworms are caused by fleas and the animal chews the flea eggs and the tapeworm is the larva so be sure to get rid of the fleas also. Dawn for the dogs collars for the cats and spray for the house and yard. Good Luck.

As long as you cleaned up the dropping you should be OK. Dogs get tapeworms from fleas not from the droppings. So keep treating for fleas (even just one) and test for tapeworm and once you are clear of both you should be OK.
Its gross but usually isn't that harmful to the dogs.
Good luck.

If they've already been treated then they shouldn't pass any live worms. If you're really worried, then after you clean up you could dump a little bleach on the spot. Only thing is then you have to make sure the dogs don't try to eat the grass with bleach on it.

Keep the dog away from the area where the droppings are suspected, esp the poop.

keep them all wormed that is going to prevent it all.. cleaning the poop helps but if you just keep them all wormed you should be fine, (once a month)
