Every time I make chicken soup, everyone has gas from it and my son has loose diapers. I would like to know what I can do to prevent this as we like soup, especially when we have colds, which is when I make a big pot of it. Does it have anything to do with using bouillon chicken cubes instead of chicken broth from a can? I do this since it is cheaper. I add: Chicken breast meat, carrots, onions, celery, potatoes and noodles - all ingredients we eat otherwise with no problems. Any suggestions? Advice? Thanks :)

My son and I have an intollerance for onions. We had the same problem with canned broth so switched back to bouliion.

Chances are it's from the cubes.

The cause of Flatulence (Gas) is due to a lack of an enzyme which we need to break down the foods we consume. Some people may have gas with some foods while others may not due to the enzyme for that food. For example, people do not have enzymes to break down beans. This is why beans are known to cause gas. If these people eat the ingredients from your soup separately without experiencing flatulence, then most likely you can use the process of elimination and assume it the part which we do not eat separately or individually.

Your chicken soup sounds deliscious and the only thing that would cause "gas" is the chicken fat which needs to be strained.
Be sure that after the soup sits for a while skim the fat which will rise to the top, simple to do and should solve the problem!

It isn't the soup that produces gas, it's when you suck it up off your spoon. Every gulp you take, you also ingest air, which produces gas.
