Alcoholic, schmalcoholic. Man, I am so tired of the labels everyone puts on people for their life styles. One or two beers a day, come on, that is the most rediculous thing I have ever heard of. Of course you are not an alcoholic, you are a human being with a zest for life. Don't think twice about it and enjoy your life. Screw labels.

alcoholism is not determined solely by the amount you drink, many people drink 1 or 2 beers a day and more, and never have a problem. If on the other hand you cannot go about your daily responsibilities without those 1 or 2 beers, then yes, you do have a problem.
The other train of thought is if you think you have a problem, you probably do, if its costing you more than just the money, then also, you have a problem.
One way to find out, is go to an AA open meeting, or a rehab clinic, ask them, sit in a meeting, if you can relate to a large part of what you hear, that should answer the question for you. Alcoholics understand other alcoholics, if you cannot relate to what they are saying, you dont belong there, if you can go to more meetings.

alcoholism is generally defined by dependence (i depend on those two drinks to make me feel good) and interference (drinking interferes with some other aspect of my life), and the inability to stop.

it might be a good idea to take a break once in a while, so you're not just saying "i can stop anytime" but actually proving to yourself that you can.

the dependence thing hardly applies for two drinks/day. even if you depend on those drinks to unwind, i can't see how that's different from using t.v. or any other "mild sedative" after a long day. it's escalation that you have to be careful of.

and the interference thing probably can't apply to a guy who has 1-2 beers/day. if you have those drinks at a bar in order to avoid your family, your wife fights with you over any amount of drinking, or you have a serious financial situation where you buy those beers instead of paying off a debt, then it's a problem. otherwise it's hard to see how a couple of beers could possibly interfere with your life.

No you are not an alcoholic. Think about it this way...alcoholics go to meetings and discuss their everyday battles with how they obtain alcohol and how it messed up their lives. Others just drink themselves into oblivion evey waking moment. You do not go to meetings and obviously do not get hammered off of 2 beers. You are drinking in moderation and seem pretty responsible about it. People who do not drink wake up each day and that is the best they will feel all day. I sometimes feel sorry for non-drinkers.

No i do no longer, that's been shown that those who drink on a established foundation, small quantity stay longer than those who do no longer, it does no longer remember no matter if it really is wine, beer, or whiskey. maximum who drank small quantities each day, drank whiskey or wine a million-2 beverages an afternoon and lived to be of their late ninety's. It does skinny the blood so i wager it would help with constricted blood vessels and blood bypass by out the body. An alcoholic won't be able to help yet drink, fights it, jukes for it like an addict with drugs, they cover it even as they drink in the course of the day at artwork, previously artwork. it really is a compullsion previous their administration.

No. But who cares. Are people bothering you about it. If you want to drink a few beers a day then go ahead. Your a grownup and that is your decision. Knowone can judge anyone for their behavior but God, and God did not ever say that budwieser was a sin. I would if I could but I dont have the time. Otherwise I would drink much more.

do you need the 1 or 2 beers to go about your daily routine ?

alcoholic as soon as you say it the impression is a dirty old man unshaven with a dirty coat drinking out of a bottle wrapped in a brown paper bag.

if you are dependent on 1 or 2 pints of an alcolholic drink under the definition yes.

but then if you sit an AA test everyone who drinks is deemed alcoholic. its online 20 questions and you may not answer 2 of them yes.

I think technically yes...but I have a drink or two a day as well (weekends more) and I don't consider myself a drunk. I work 50 hours a week and work out and keep my house clean and socialize and I don't really see the harm in it.;
