I'm not trying to make a generalized statement, but the majority of christians that I have come across here and in real life seem to want to control everyone's chioce of religion.
They like to say "Jesus is the only way" No people, it's not. There is a plethora of other paths that people follow. Why not just worry about your own spirituality instead of trying to conform the entire world to your way of thinking?

They had their way once. Christianity destroyed virtually all opposition, and held the power. It was called the Dark Ages.

You are a plethora of contradiction:

You say that you aren't trying to make a generalized statement, but then you go on and do it.

You say that christian's want to control everyone elses choice of religion... then you proceed to tell the christian how they can express their religion and what they can and cannot say to others.

Christians do believe that Jesus is the only way to having a relationship with God. We also believe that there are not a plethora of paths, only Jesus the Christ. Why? Because if there were any other way then Christ's death had absolutely no value. That is what we believe.

You are free to say that you don't believe that and even say "No people, it's not." That is your right and choice. But your denial of Christ has nothing to do with the truth. Truth is truth. It does not change and is not subject to either your opinion or mine. But we are both free to believe and express that belief in any way that we care to as long as it does not harm anyone or anything else. I can respectfully disagree with your religious beliefs. I doubt that you would give me the same corteousy.

Finally, you critically demand that christians "worry about your own spirituality instead of trying to conform the entire world to your way of thinking." Yet, I can see that you are not subject to these same directions. Only the christians.

What a hypocrite you are. Demanding of others what you are not willing to do yourself.

The answer to your question is obvious. It is not the christian that threatens freedom of religion. It is because of the christian that this right even exists in the constitution. No, it is the self-centered atheists who are the threat of imposing the shackles of their religion on everyone else.

Nope, there would be tolerance.

The Spanish Inquisition will definitely feature in some answers, but then, let's not forget that Spain was once under Muslim rule.

Jesus taught the path of love, not hate.

You'd be surprised to know that even a lot of Muslims belonging to non- Sunni Sects would actually prefer to live in a Christian Country rather than an Islamic one.

You must've come across the very small minority of Christians who really want to preach; because, most don't.

We're mostly, happy being what we are and don't really go out of our way to teach you about our religion.

That's something the Muslims love to do. Tell everyone else that they're all wrong and that Islam is the only True Faith.

We really don't need to "Sell" Jesus Christ.

I HAVE ONLY READ YOUR QUESTION AND NO OTHER ANSWERS! FIRST I AM A CHRISTIAN. NOW IF YOU WERE TO ASK ME MY BELIEFS I WOULD TELL YOU. AM I GOING TO GRAB YOU OFF THE STREET LIKE A MADMAN TO SAVE YOU FROM YOURSELF??? HELL NO! I THINK YOU WILL HAVE YOUR OWN REALIZATION AND YOUR OWN PERSONAL EXPERIENCE WITH GOD! RELIGION IS A PERSONAL EXPERIENCE AND CANNOT BE INFLICTED ON ANOTHER! NO MATTER HOW WELL MEANING THE PERSON.

SOMETIMES IT TENDS TO TURN AWAY PEOPLE. PEOPLE NEED TO LIVE BY THEIR BELIEFS AND SHOW BY THEIR ACTIONS AND NOT THEIR MOUTHS!

I HAVE SEEN MORE TRUE LOVE AND KINDNESS FROM ALL RELIGIONS OF ALL KINDS OF FAITHS FROM ALL RACES OF PEOPLES WHILE WE CONTINUE TO RECOVER FROM HURRICANE KATRINA IN MISSISSIPPI. TRULY IT MAKES ANYONE APPRECIATE THE FACT THAT GOD ABSOLUTELY MUST HAVE MULTIPLE PATHS FOR SUCH WONDERFUL PEOPLE AS THESE! SURELY SUCH WONDERFUL OPEN HEARTS AND GIVING SOULS DESERVE REWARDS FAR BEYOND THOSE AVAILABLE HERE ON EARTH! GOD JUST COULD NOT BE THAT UNJUST FOR THOSE WONDERFUL PEOPLE OF OTHER RELIGIONS WHO HAVE WORKED DOWN HERE WITH US VOLUNTARILY! SORRY WHOEVER YOU ARE, BUT AS A CHRISTIAN WITNESS TO A MIRACLE OF LOVE IN AMERICA. I DO TRULY BELIEVE THERE IS A JUST GOD! I DO NOT BELIEVE THAT I AM IN AN EXCLUSIVE GOLF CLUB!

THEN AGAIN YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BE SO BITTER ABOUT CHRISTIANS EITHER WHATEVER YOUR RELIGION!

GOD IS GOD ..... WE WILL SOONER OR LATER MEET AT THE SAME POINT REGARDLESS OF WHAT WE MIGHT THINK IN OUR MORTAL BRAIN!

ALL TRUE RELIGIONS ARE REALLY BEAUTIFUL WHEN YOU STUDY THEM.

STOP BEING SO SARCASTIC ...... BE A LITTLE BIT MORE OPEN BETCHA I KNOW MORE ABOUT YOUR RELIGION THAN YOU DO!

I HAVE SEEN THE ABSOLUTE BEST OF HUMANITY WORKING SIDE BY SIDE ALL RELIGIONS, RACES, JUST HELPING PEOPLE WHO CANNOT HELP THEMSELVES! PEOPLE FROM ALL OVER THE WORLD HAVE COME HERE!
THIS HAS BEEN A LEARNING EXPERIENCE FOR ME AND I AM 61 YEARS OLD!

ANYWAY DO NOT BE SO BITTER! PEOPLE ARE REALLY GOOD AT HEART AND THERE IS SOME FORCE AT WORK HERE BIGGER THAN MAN!

GOD BLESS YOU

No. Not as the question stands.

Makemovie has the right idea.

Its pretty silly to ask a question like that about a group of over 1 billion people. Like me asking "If Europeans had their way..." like they all agree on what they want.

You would have to refine the term "Christians" to "those Christians who want a theocracy."

In which case, the answer becomes obvious.

Why do you people always think that Christians are forcing you to believe anything? Most of us will tell what we believe in but I don't see believers saying " Now you have to believe this and this is an order" I believe my way of thinking is the only one true way but I'm not insisiting that you go my way. There is a big difference between giving our views and telling you you have to go our way!

There is only one Way.

That said, I am an avid proponent and advocate of the freedom to choose.

In other words, if you don't choose the Way, there is no point in your saying that you believe it is the Way.

What Christ wants are people who willingly give their entire lives to him. Period. He doesn't want people to merely say they give their entire lives to him; he doesn't want people who give one tiny corner of their lives to him; he doesn't want people to acknowledge that he was, like, wise only. He doesn't want anyone unless that person freely wants him completely.

So if Christianity were to be enforced upon every living person, it would be an atrocity. People would be forcing other people to say something that they don't believe to be true in their hearts. Which would be worse than useless--it would be criminal.

Be free, roam as wildly as you like, go here, go there, peek into this corner and under that rock. Go. If you don't want Christ, don't have him.

If you do want him, on the other hand, then welcome home.

I'm not trying to conform the entire world.
It's what I believe. (that Jesus is the only way)
I'm a firm believer of separation of Church and State.
There are a plethora of other paths. This is mine.

Your NOT trying to make a generalized statement?
With words such as "Christians" which included ALL and "the majority that I have come across" you already have generalized.

There is not one Christian I know that believes in what you say we believe in!!!! I know fellowships in El Paso, Dallas, MPLS. Boston and Denver.

Good question. I'm Christian (you probably cant tell, judging by my handle!) and I think that everyone should have the right to practice which ever religion they choose. I do believe that Jesus is the only way, but this is something that I had to learn for myself. I HATE it when people try to force religion on you, it only turns you off.

You are right that there are plethora of paths anyone can follow. But only one will lead to eternity with GOD. All other lead to eternity with out GOD. Now JESUS is that only way. You are right that you do have a choice, either choose JESUS or follow your own way. It is that simple.
